The numbers had greatly diminished upon seeing the graveyard of doom, meaning only a small number of people were actively searching for Octavia. Aurelia honestly didn't blame the others for leaving. If she wasn't good friends with Octavia she probably would have left too.
They had been searching through the entire night, and now the sun was starting to peek through the trees, making the search for the lost girl easier.
"I got nothing." Finn admits. "We've lost the prints." Bellamy shakes his head at him.
"Keep looking."
Aura sighs, trying to rub the sleep from her eyes. She looked over at Jasper, who didn't look any better than she did. "Hey are you feeling okay?" He nodded, but didn't make an effort to respond verbally.
"Where's John?" Roma questioned uneasily, frantically looking around to find her friend.
"I swear I just saw him a second ago." Jasper responds, clearly alarmed.
"Everyone spread out, he couldn't have gone far." Bellamy suggested.
Out of nowhere something falls at Jasper's feet, causing him to stumble backwards into Aura, who steadied the boy by holding onto his shoulders. Everyone's eyes widened in shock, realising it was John's dead body that had been dropped out of the tree.
His neck had been slashed clean. His eyes were staring into the sky in an unsettling way.
Finn heads whips up, inspecting the tree branches. "They're using the trees."
Aura was looking around their current location, when her whole body stiffened. "Guys." She shakily points her hand through a couple trees. "I can see two of them."
"I see one too." Diggs declares nervously, pointing in a different direction.
"Me too!" Roma speaks up, panic starting to take over.
"Run!"
Without missing a second, Aura grabs Jasper's wrist and sprints, following Finn and Bellamy who were in the lead. They had only been running for a few minutes when more grounders appeared in the direction the group were running.
"They keep heading us off!" Finn exclaims.
Aura could feel Jasper slowing down, and so she stopped running and took a look at him. His face was bright red with beads of sweat rolling down his face. "I can't run much longer." he panted out, both hands on his knees.
