Aurelia was on full alert as she rode her bike down the dirt path, eyes occasionally scanning the treetops to look out for any potential ambush from unfriendly grounders. She could faintly hear the sound of the rovers over the roaring of her own engine, assuring her that they were still travelling undetected for now.

Her brows furrowed slightly upon seeing a group of grounders in the distance, and her hand instantly reached towards the radio which was strapped to her waist.

“Guys, we have company. It looks like a Trikru checkpoint.”

Stay alert, show no weapons,” Bellamy’s voice crackled through the radio as she slowed to a stop in front of the unfamiliar grounders.

She pulled off her helmet as she looked at the wounded group, her ears registering the sound of the rover pulling to a stop beside her.

“What happened here?” Clarke questioned as she jumped out of the rover, and slowly began to approach the man who was laying across the forest floor.

“Wanheda,” a different man greeted with a respectful nod as he approached the blonde. “Azgeda burned our village to the ground. My father caught an ax with his leg and we can’t stop the bleeding.”

Aurelia stayed seated as she watched Clarke and Bellamy approach the old man, her fingers lightly tapping the handlebars, her head still subtly turning as she assessed the area surrounding them.

“I’m sorry,” Clarke said with a sigh as she moved away from the man. “There’s nothing we can do.”

Aura straightened up slightly as she watched a small boy approach the cargo truck, her eyes moving towards Bellamy who had noticed the same movement.

“Think maybe you can clear the road?” he questioned as he turned back towards the younger man, the sense of urgency clear in his voice.

The man nodded in response. “Everyone, move!”

“Hey, kid,” Bellamy called out, a panicked expression starting to take hold on his face. “Get away from there.”

Aurelia’s heart dropped as she registered the look of shock that appeared on the boy’s face, and scrambled to pull her helmet back on and turn on the engine.

“Azgeda! Azgeda!”

“No! Move!” Bellamy exclaimed as he pulled himself into the driver’s seat, and Aurelia revved her engine and began to speed down the dirt path once more. She contemplated dropping back to draw fire from the cargo, but it only took one glance towards the grounders to realise she was no match for the number of archers that were already striking with deadly accuracy.
