Before Aurelia had time to attack, Rhydian drew his arm back and sent a punch into the other guard’s face, sending him crumpling to the floor with a thud and knocking him out cold. Rhydian quickly moved towards the door, turning back to find the girl frozen and just staring at him with her jaw dropped.

“Do you need an invitation sweetheart? Quick! Follow me.” The girl kept a grip on the scalpel and followed him, making sure to keep her head down and guard up. She doesn’t know where she was, but it was sketchy looking, although not as sketchy as that chair she was about to get strapped to.

As the two quickly walked down the corridor, Rhydian made sure to cover her as much he could to keep her away from watchful eyes. He didn't know how many people were in on the plan to kidnap the delinquents, so he had to assume everyone was.

He quickly led her into the elevator, frantically pressing the button to close it. Right as the doors were about to shut, a hand moved between them, opening them again. Rhydian quickly backed into the corner, making sure that his tall body would hide Aurelia who was standing right behind him, her eyes wide at the prospect of being caught.

“Hello Officer James,” spoke Dr. Tsing, to which he nodded in response. “You haven’t pressed your floor number.”

“Oh my bad, floor three please.” Tsing nodded and pressed it, before pressing on floor four for herself. Rhydian widened his eyes knowing this would be a problem, considering they were currently on the bottom floor and Tsing would see Aurelia if he left the elevator before she did.

When the elevator stopped on floor three, Tsing turned to him, noticing he wasn’t making an effort to leave. “This is your floor.”

Rhydian scratched his neck nervously. “I just remembered that I left my keys. Silly me, I'll let you get off before I go back.”

When she finally left, Rhydian moved away, allowing the girl to finally breathe properly. “I thought we were goners.” Aura breathed out in relief, as the two of them quickly exited onto the third floor and Rhydian led her down yet another corridor. He quickly opened a random door and ushered the girl in, before quickly closing the door behind him.

Aura gazed around the room in wonder. “Welcome to my humble abode” Rhydian says, walking over to the sofa and sitting down, clearly needing a break.

“What the hell is going on, Rhydian.” she exclaims, raising her arms in the air in question.

“The reason I didn’t see you for a few days is because I ended up overhearing Cage and Tsing’s plan to kidnap you guys one by one. I’ve been sneaking around to try and figure out their plan, and it happened to take place today. I was supposed to grab you by myself before you even got to that room but then another guard joined. I couldn't knock him out until we were out of sight from everyone else."

Aurelia froze. “Oh my god, Harper. Please tell me she’s okay.” Rhydian shook his head regretfully. "I haven’t got to her yet. I promise I’ll try and find her too but for now you need to hide here.”

“Hide and do what Rhydian. They’re going to find out that i’m missing sooner or later and they’ll just take someone else. Or worse they’ll go searching door to door to find me.”

He got up and walked towards a random painting, before pulling at it and revealing a hidden compartment. "If they do come here, i’m gonna need you to hide here as quickly as possible. They don’t know about this.” He sighs before closing up the compartment. “As for the other problem, i’m scouting around and trying to find an exit. Hopefully I can get you out so you can find Clarke.”

“We don’t even know if she’s out there Rhydian, she could have been killed in this very mountain.”

“So what Aurelia McKinley." He asks, staring at her with a determined look. "You can find help instead. You said yourself that there are others out there from your group. Hey, maybe your lover is out there.” He pulls her into a hug, allowing her to lay her head on his chest. “Even if they’re not, at least you’ll be safe.”

That hug is all it took for her to start breaking down. It was a warm comforting embrace which allowed her to finally feel the emotions she had been suppressing, as well as the new emotions which came along with the betrayal from the mountain men.

The deaths from the battle against the grounders, losing some of her closest friends, knowing that her friends here were only days away from being kidnapped one by one. All she wanted to do was cry. And that's what she did. Tears fell down her face in streams as choked sobs also emitted from her. Her heart clenched in pain, unable to take any more of this. When will they finally have a break?

Rhydian simply held her, one arm around her waist and one holding the back of her head. He didn’t feel all the pain that she had endured in the past two or so months, but he felt for her. He didn’t know how he would handle it if he was in her shoes, and he admired her for it.

After a while, she finally pulled away and wiped away the tears on her face. “I’m sorry for ever doubting you Rhydian, I hope you understand why.”

“Don’t worry about it sweetheart.”  A small smile appeared on his face. “Well. You better get comfortable, you may be here for a few days. I’ll try my best to sneak you food but it may not be as filling as your previous meals.”

“That’s more than okay Rhydian.” She pulled him into another hug. “Thank you so much for this. I know how risky this is for you and words can’t express how thankful I am.”

He quickly wrapped his arms around her shoulders before pulling away. “I best be off now. Remember, if there are three knocks with long pauses in between, that’s me. If it’s anything other than that, make sure to hide behind that painting. Got it?”

Aura smiled at him. “Got it.”
