"Oh, I understand what you mean". I coiled my arms around Xander's neck and looked into his mesmerizing eyes. "I'm sorry you get to feel that way because of me".
He didn't answer me but just stared at me the whole time. It was so obvious he wasn't listening to me and was lost in thoughts. He had been doing that for sometime now, thanks to my observation.
The room was strangely cold and tensed up. I've to say, if this keeps up between us, this prom thing won't work, together with my supposed plans on him.
I can't believe I missed my presentation just to be stuck with a cold hunter.
"And now the carnival!". A voice roared from outside the backstage, particularly the stage. "We call on the prom royals to come forward now!".
It was time for I and Xander to spend more time together as the royals, more like a prom date, while celebrating with the rest of the others.
I turned away from the grip and uncoiled my hands from him with a sigh, and turned at the direction of the voice. It's now or never I guess.
Suddenly, I felt something warm brush against my hand and realised that he was holding my hand now. A blush creeped on my cheeks as I forced myself to avoid his eye contact once more.
"Now, you're clearly the one that's worrying too much. Have a break from your life for once, Hunters". I teased and chuckled as he gave me a surprised look as a response. We held hands with smiles as we walked out of the backstage.
"I don't know how you did it". He began, stroking my palm gently with a smug tugging at the end of his lips. "But I like this side of you tonight".
Shit...he shouldn't think that way.
"W-well...h-hey!". I slapped his hands away playfully, in a sort of way to change the subject. "Is that a compliment or what?".
"Take it from me as a compliment...your teases and confidence well, just sort of remind me of someone I recently met- not so long". His stare changed all of a sudden into a dark look even though I knew that wasn't intentional, yet I found myself panicking at his words. "That girl was hella strong yet just so annoying".
Well, thank you.
That means a lot coming from a hunter.
With a nervous laugh, I pinched the bridge of his fingers and wore a small pout. "That's no compliment at all, your highness...I'm I that bad?".
"Well, a compliment is always a compliment, my queen". He chuckled with a flirty wink as we made our way to the rooftop. "You're nothing like her, no worries".
His queen, huh.

"Really beautiful". I heard Xander whisper besides me, and from the corner of my eyes, I could see him staring at me as he said those words.
I was speechless for a while, and even when I decided to talk, it came out quite jumbled and squeaky.
"Uh...you...we...have...ahhh...". I stuttered and rocked on my heels quite nervous. "Thank you".
"The view up here is really beautiful". He said and looked away, staring down at the cheering crowd. "Don't you think?".
Dammit Xander!
Now, I look like a fool...
"Y-yeah, I heard it was you and uhm...Amy that supervised the main parts, right?". I rolled my eyes and followed his stare to the crowd. Just hearing her name made me sick.
