Chapter Seven

07 - Remember

Weeks passed like a blur. Two days before the examination, nagawa ko na lahat ng kailangan kong ipasa. I woke up early to get ready for school.

As a student, I am not the type who is very serious in her academics. For me, I am a student who studies but never forgets to seek entertainment to distress.

Hindi rin naman ako makaconcentrate kung puro aral na lang ang gagawin ko. Pero sinisiguro ko naman na nakapag-aral na ako bago ako gumawa ng mga bagay na gusto ko.

I heard my phone beeped after I went into my room. I picked it up and saw a message. It's from Zavi. A smile formed on my lips when I read his message.

Zavi Alexander:

Good morning too, Thalia.

The past few days, we've been texting. Although I am the one who messages first, I still feel giddy and euphoric every time he replies to those.

Hindi naman siya ma-text talaga kaya maiiksi lang ang palitan namin ng mga mensahe. But, he calls me.

'Yon naman ang napansin ko sa kanya. Nevertheless, those little things he's doing make me even fall for him harder.

Hindi pa ako nakakareply ay may sumunod ulit na message niya.

Zavi Alexander:

You're going to school now?

Me:

Yes, I am done preparing. Lalabas na rin ako ng bahay maya-maya.

Zavi Alexander:

Okay. Take care.

Me:

Take care too, Zavi. I love you.

I am aware that I am very vocal about my feelings for him and I am never shy about it. Iniisip ko na lang na kapag lagi kong pinapaalala sa kanya ay matututunan na rin niya akong mahalin.

Diyan lagi nagtatapos ang usapan namin. I was hurt a little bit when I'm expecting a reply every time I tell him I love him. But then, I always see the bigger picture that in time, he'll be able to tell those words to me.

Minutes later, I heard my phone rang and saw Zavi's name as the caller. Tuwing tumatawag siya ay mga gabi na 'yon bago matulog. But before he calls, I text him goodnight first.

Laging sa tawag na siya nagpapaalam sa akin at nag-uusap kami saglit ng ginawa namin sa araw na iyon.

I always see to it that I'm not nagging and disturbing in his day that's why I only message him by morning and by night. Ayaw ko namang bulabugin siya para lang mapunan ang kapritso ko. He's a busy businessman and I respect that.

And today is a bit different. Hindi gabi ngayon kung kailan siya laging tumatawag. It took me five rings to answer his call.

"Are you busy?" He asked from the other line.

"No. Why?" Kinuha ko na ang bag ko at pababa na ng hagdan.

"You took a while to answer my call." He replied.

I stopped on the stairs because of what he said. Napansin pa pala niya ang tagal kong pagsagot.

"Uh... Lumabas kasi ako saglit tapos pagpasok ko ay saka ko na lang narinig na tumatawag ka pala." I answered even though it's a lie. I was just shocked when I saw him calling.

"Okay. Are you heading outside your apartment now?"

"Yes."

Nagpatuloy na ako sa pagbaba at nakita si mommy na nakabihis na rin para pumunta sa trabaho.
