Chapter Eight

08 - Break

I woke up feeling happy even though I stayed up late. Napuyat ako kakaisip sa maaaring maging rason kung bakit naging gano'n na lang si Zavi. Everything he does is all new to me. It was very overwhelming.

We'll be having our final exams for this semester tomorrow. That's why our profs tried to finish every topic that was included in the exam.

I'm on my way out of our room when my phone buzzed. It was a text from Zavi.

Zavi Alexander:

I'm going there. Wait for me in the parking lot. Let's dine out.

Napangiti naman ako nang mabasa ko ang mensahe niya. I didn't reply and marched towards the parking lot. I didn't wait for long. I saw his sports car went inside. He went out as soon as he parked his car.

I stood up to meet him. As soon as I reached him, I welcomed him with a hug.

"Hi!" I smiled at him and reached for his cheeks for a kiss.

"Thalia." He muttered. His arm went on my waist as he guided me to enter his car.

"Where do you want to eat?" Sulyap niya sa akin habang nagmamaneho siya.

"Kahit saan na lang." His brows furrowed because of my reply.

"Want to go in my office and I'll just ask my secretary to bring us lunch?" He asked. Napaisip naman ako.

His idea was better since I don't want us to dine again in an expensive restaurant. Na siyang iniiwasan ko talaga kapag kasama ko siya.

"Okay. It's fine." Ngiti kong sagot. I saw him nodded and focused his eyes on the road.

Minutes later, we were in front of their company. Pagkalabas niya ay sinalubong siya ng isang valet. Zavi gave his keys to him and opened my door. I got used to this gesture of his. I remember that day he told me that.

Sinundo niya ako sa university. The moment he texted me and I asked where I am, I was just leaving after my class. Gabi na at palabas na ako para magcommute when he message me.

Zavi Alexander:

Are you home?

Me:

Not yet. Pero palabas na ako ng campus.

After I sent my message, my phone rang. It was him.

"Zavi. Bakit?" I said from the other line.

"Can you wait for me?" He asked.

"Uh... I can pero baka may ginagawa ka pa. Kaya ko na ang sarili ko." I heard his deep sigh.

"Come on, Thalia. Wait for me. I'll be there."

"Okay." I defeatedly replied.

"Doon na lang tayo sa front gate. Huwag ka nang pumasok sa parking lot."

"No, it's okay. You should stay inside. It's better." He demanded.

"I'm fine, Zavi. Please. And meron namang guard doon kaya hindi ako mapapahamak. Marami pa namang estudyante dito." I explained.

He was silent for a second.

"Okay." He answered and then told me to hang up now and wait for me.

Knowing Zavi and his driving skills, lalo na kung siya lang mag-isa, ay ilang minuto lang ay nandito na siya.

Zoey told me his behavior in terms of driving. She also said that he engaged in car races along with his friends and cousins especially if they're free.
