Chapter Nine

09 - Afraid

That day I went home and locked myself in my room. I cried my heart out. It's too painful for me to see him with someone.

Zoey asked me what happened but I refused to tell her what really happened. I just told her that I felt tired that's why I went home immediately. Ayoko namang pasamain ang loob niya sa kapatid niya.

Days later, with checking my social media accounts, I came across a live interview happening in the conference room of SVD Holdings.

I clicked it and the camera was focused on the people behind the big project they are developing. There are some foreign faces seen in the video.

It looks like it's about to finish since they are only entertaining the last question.

The last interviewer stood up and fired his question and blatantly asked the CEO, Zavi Alexander Saavedra about his lovelife.

The famous socialite was brought up and other girls he was seen with. However, Zavi deliberately denied and crushed those rumors and said "I don't have a girlfriend."

The speaker adjourned the press conference after that one. Some tried to throw some questions to Zavi as if they are not content with what he said a while ago but they failed to get some answers.

Zavi was escorted outside by his bodyguards to prevent the reporters to harass him further. And the video ended.

A smile crept to my lips when I realized what I just watched. It feels like I can still hope for him since he revealed that he doesn't have a girlfriend.

Three days after that, I was invited by Zoey for their brunch. She knew what really happened the last time we went to their company. She nagged me and went here in our apartment just to get the truth out of me.

"Thalia, ano ba kasing nangyari talaga sa inyo ni Kuya?"

"Wala, Zoey. I told you I'm fine and just tired that's why I went home. Anyway, kamusta?" I tried to divert the topic.

"I'm fine. We'll be having a brunch tomorrow." She told me and luckily she didn't notice my intention to change what we are talking about a while ago.

"Okay. Are you hungry?"

"Not yet. I already ate before I went here. Anyway, I'd like to invite you to come over brunch tomorrow." I stilled with her words.

I think it's not yet time for me to go there now that I'm concluding that Zavi will be there as well. Hindi ko pa siya kayang makita kahit okay na ako. I am over with what happened and not fun holding grudges with anyone. It's just that I can't seem to make some effort to see him for now.

"Uh... may pupuntahan ako, eh."

"At saan naman?" She squinted her eyes as if she's weighing if I'm telling the truth or waiting for me to... lie.

"Kasama ko si mommy hindi ko pa alam." I lied.

"Okay, nakakahalata na ako. First, you diverted the topic regarding Kuya Zavi. Second, you don't like to come to our house even though in the first place that was our agenda ever since you had a crush on him. And lastly, that makes me so intrigued more, you lied!" She exclaimed.

My eyes went wide with those accusations she fired. Well, not totally accusations because that was the truth actually.

"No, I didn't." I tried to avoid the stinging glares she throws at me.

"Yes, Thalia. I called Tita Titania a while ago and told her I'll invite you tomorrow and she said agreed since she'll be working today until the next day away from here." Busted!
