Chapter Twenty-One

21 - Mine

"Thalia!" Tawag ni Zoey sa akin pagkakita niya sa akin palabas ng room ko.

"Hey." Bati ko sa kanya.

Sinabayan niya na akong lumakad palabas ng building namin. Nilingon ko siya at para siyang nagdadalawang-isip kung magsasalita ba siya o hindi.

My brows furrowed with her actions. With my curiosity, I asked her.

"What's bothering you?" She bit her lip trying to suppress something in her. Until she exhaled deeply and looked at me.

"Balak ko nang sagutin si Jax this summer break." Mahina niyang sabi. My mouth gaped with shock.

"OMG! That's nice!" I exclaimed. Masaya ako sa kanila lao na para kay Zoey. But is that what's bothering her? I hope not.

"You think?" Parang hindi pa siguradong tanong niya sa akin. Sunod-sunod naman ang tango ko sa kanya.

"Yes, hindi ba sabi ko sa'yo kapag ready ka na, ready ka na rin sa lahat." Paliwanag ko.

"Don't you think it's too early?" She asked voicing out what's disturbing her as she sat down on the chair when we arrived in the

cafeteria.

Bumuntong-hininga naman ako at hinawakan ang kamay niya.

"No. If you think you're ready the very first time you are with him, walang makakapagsabi na sobrang aga no'n. You love him so even if it's too early or late for others, wala silang pakialam. It's you who'll love him and it's you and Blaze who'll spend the time together. Huwag mong isipin ang sasabihin ng iba." Sambit ko.

Iyon naman talaga hindi ba. The opinions of others shouldn't matter to you. They don't have the right to question every decision you make because that is not their life. It's yours.

Whatever you want to do with your life, do it. As long as you know that you're not stepping on someone else's.

Nakanguso niya naman akong pinapakinggan. Natawa naman ako sa reaksyon niya.

"Okay, I won't listen to others then. But, I'll listen to you." I laughed at her and she frowned again.

Zavi told me yesterday that he'll fetch me from my school and to have an early dinner.

Sinabi kong huwag na dahil baka busy siya sa kompanya nila but he insisted and who I am to reject his offer.

Unang labas naming ito dahil sa nagdaang buwan ay naging busy. Last month, he went abroad twice.

Malapit na rin ang summer break kaya pwede na ulit akong bumisita sa kompanya niya lalo na kapag busy siya. Naging busy din kasi ako sa academics dagil patapos na ang school year.

Hintayin ko na lang daw siya kasi may biglaan daw kumausap sa kanya pero dadalian niya. I insisted again not to fetch me but he disagreed.

Napangiti naman ako. I always find myself thinking about the past and how glad I am how things changed.

Na kung noon at nagpapakahirap pa akong makahingi nang kahit kaunting oras mula sa kanya at ngayon naman ay siya na ang naghahanap ng oras para makasama niya ako.

Dahil galing akong library, I borrowed two books for me to read this evening.

"Thalia!" Someone called me. I turned around and saw Ridge.

Gulat ako dahil na rin ngayon ang una naming pagkikita simula noong araw na iyon. I sighed remembering what happened between the two last time.

Wala akong balita sa kanya pati na rin kay Jave. Siguro busy rin sila dahil graduating students sila. Gano'n ba ka-hectic ang schedule ng Architecture?
