Chapter Sixteen

16 - Air

On weekends, the thought of Zavi and I inside his car last Friday never left my mind. Well, I somewhat expected the kiss to happen.

But I admire what Zavi did. He thinks that it is not yet the time and for me, I'm relieved that he did that.

Yes, I want him to be my firsts in everything but I'm not yet at that certain age to do something like that. Maybe soon but just like he said... not yet.

The self-control he showed me that night overwhelmed me. Mas lalo kong nirespeto lahat ng gusto niyang gawin. He knows his limits and boundaries when it comes to me.

By Monday, we went back to our university to retrieve back our exam papers and after that, we can enjoy our semestral break.

"Valderama, Thalia." My professor announced as I went in front and got my papers from her.

"Thank you po." Sabi ko at nginitian siya.

Ilang professors pa ang nakasalamuha namin para makuha lahat ng papers namin. Even though we only did that the whole day, I felt tired. Parang tinatawag na ako ng kama ko habang pauwi pa lang ako.

I opened my phone and read Zavi's message.

Zavi Alexander:

Where are you?

Me:

Pauwi na. Kinuha ko lang exam papers ko. Why?

Medyo tumagal ang reply niya. Nakarating na ako sa gate nang magreply siya.

Zavi Alexander:

Nothing. Are you tired?

Me:

Yes. I just want to sleep.

Binaba ko ang cellphone ko nang may naramdaman akong tao na nasa harap ko.

"Hi." Bati ko kay Jave. He smiled at me. He's sporting white tropical-printed short-sleeve button-ups and black jeans paired with his white sneakers.

"Are you going home?" He asked and I nodded. "You'll commute?" He added.

"Oo eh. Bakit pala?" I questioned because of his sudden appearance.

Huli naming pagkikita ay noong exhibition game pa.

"I just wanted to say hi. It might take a while before I see you again." He answered.

Sabagay, ilang linggo rin ang break namin kaya malaki ang posibilidad na hindi nga kami magkikita.

"Oo nga pala. Saan ka magbabakasyon?" Tanong ko naman.

"I don't know. Maybe out of the country this holiday. You?"

Kagaya din nila Zoey ay baka rin ay pupunta sila abroad para i-celebrate ang pasko at bagong taon.

"Sa bahay lang." Ngiti ko sa kanya.

"Really? You won't get bored?" Mangha niyang tanong.

"Oo. I'm used to it. And that's the time I can be with my mom."

Yes, we live in the same house pero dahil sa sobrang busy ni mommy ay hindi kami nakakapag-bonding. I always miss her.

And I would like to take this opportunity to be with her dahil na rin semestral break namin.

"Hmm.. I see. Anyway, are you in a hurry?"

"Hindi naman. Bakit?"

"I can drive you home. I'll just fetch... someone." Sabi naman niya.
