２．０ - ｆａｉｌｅｄ

on the whole ride back haewon was deep in her thoughts. did they get the right man? there needs to be something they haven't seen. the man practically run into their arms saying they should get him. was it a trap?

but she knew one thing for sure, her dad wouldn't be pleased with the results. arriving at the building changbin let the others out before driving off to get the man somewhere else. the three of them went up to the office of mr min.

he was already sitting there with the rest of the nct members who watched everything. as soon as the door closed mr min started talking.

"i suppose this was an easy mission huh"

"yes he did nothing against it"

mark just shrugged not noticing how tense haewon was. shit. she knew exactly what would happen now. mark looked at his members noticing how tense all of them looked. they looked like they would start a fight any second. confused he raised a brow before turning back to face mr min.

"it was a bit too easy wasn't it"

he locked gazes with haewon. even though you couldn't see it on her expression, her body was completely stiff, frozen in place.

"i'm not sure whether it was a trap sir. it was the man that fitted the description, but the other things don't make sense, something isn't right"

sir? wasn't this her dad? mark got even more confused. what the actual fuck is happening right now? mr min got up walking over to the window.

"you know, haewon i'm disappointed in you. if this is a trap the thing is on you, you know that right?"

"but she didn't even have to do something with it, we just followed the orders we got from ta-"

a hand on his shoulder cut him off. it was haewon. she looked down on her feet and whispered as quiet as she could.

"just leave it mark, you will only make it worse"

"you know haewon, you should be lucky you are still alive, if you wouldn't be good for the business i would have killed you ages ago. no wonder your mother left you behind and only took your brother. you are nothing but a disappointment"

at this words haechan tensed. he was about to speak up before taeyong's hand clasped over his mouth preventing him from speaking.

"leave it haechan, you will only cause even more drama, he can't know who you are yet"

haechan's heart broke over the words his dad said to her. that's how she has living all the years? no wonder she was so cold towards me. she can't do anything but hold all of the pain to herself.

"you proved nothing in this mission and maybe even got us in danger. jaehyun please go and take a look at the man they kidnapped tonight. we need to know whether he has something with him that could get us in trouble"

jaehyun nodded and left. mark balled his fists, he was mad over the tone he used while speaking to the people. he glanced at taeyong who was already looking at him. he signlaed mark to keep his mouth shut.

seems like they are all used to him speaking in that tone.

"as for you haewon, meet me in room 4 in the basement"

haewon's eyes widened.

"yes she will be down in ten minutes i quickly need to talk to her"

taeyong. mr min nodded before leaving the room. haewon stood in the middle of the room completely frozen. then she turned to johnny.

"looks like you can get some things ready again"

she said chuckling.

"will do i will be on the place i'm always at, taeyong please look over her as always"

"the fuck is going on"

everyone stopped talking and looked at mark.

"i think i am also lost in this conversation"

of course, none of the dreamies nor mark knew what was really going on.

haewon sighed before turning to taeil.

"can you take care of this? just tell him the short version"

"all right be careful"

haewon send him a ghost of a smile before leaving the room with johnny and taeyong.

"so what were you talking about?"

taeil honestly didn't know how to explain the situation without telling too much. the dreamies didn't know the family that well yet, and he knew that haewon didn't want them and especially haechan to know the whole story already.

"doyoung i'm not that good with words could you do this for me please? i need to look something up"

it wasn't a lie, he really needed to look something up. doyoung just nodded before turning to the five boys who looked at him in curiosity.

"okay we won't tell you everything yet. but all you need to know is that this family works different than ours. if haewon didn't do good enough in her father's eyes she gets a sort of punishment."

doyoung paused for a second.

"you don't especially need to know what happened but there is one thing you should know. don't interfere when he is talking to haewon, that will only make things ten times worse, so just shut your mouth, there is nothing we can do against it at the moment."

all of them were still kind of confused but got the message to not keep ask for now. haechan also didn't ask further, but that was just because he was still kind of scared of his father after seeing him like this.

mark on the other hand wasn't really satisfied with the answer he got. nevertheless he didn't ask doyoung or the others knowing he wouldn't get an answer he would be satisfied with.

but there was one thing he knew for sure, he will find out what was really happening and why no one could speak about it.

while he was deep in thoughts thinking about how he could get to the bottom of the answer, another person was feeling a lot of pain, and it only got worse.

yet, you didn't hear anything at all. no one heard her, nor was someone coming to help her, she was all alone in this painful moment.
