*7 years before*

"Haechan you are too fast for me" a 10 year old haewon pouted at her twin brother.

"not my fault you are so slow" he stuck his tongue out earning an eye roll from his sister. "whatever I'm not playing anymore" she turned around wanting to leave being mad at him. Suddenly she felt two arms wrapping around her back from behind.

"I'm sorry haewon I promise I won't do it again" "but you say that every time" "this time I mean it I promise don't be mad at meee" Haechan whined making haewon smile.

the two siblings were always like this. they may fought a lot about small things but would make up right after. they always had each others back and there was nothing who could break their bond.

or at least that was what they thought.

their family was once a happy one. a lovely family full of laughter and happiness. everyone in the neighborhood knew them as the happy little family they were with the two adorable, yet chaotic twins.

"haewon and Haechan come both in, now!"

well until the twins turned 10. after a while their dad got abusive towards their mother. he started by turning every single thing into an argument, talking her down, calling her worthless. It got to the point he even started hitting her. He never completely beat you two up, but he sometimes slapped you when he was mad at you two.

You both were scared of your father, he wasn't the man you both knew before. He changed completely and no one knew why. He stayed late at work, were drinking more regularly keep coming home drunk, was never happy with anyone in the family.

Neither one of you could remember the last time you seen him smile sincerely at you or being happy. The only thing you knew about his job was that it was very dangerous so you stayed out of his way.

haewon and Haechan both quickly went inside. The view was nothing new to both of them but still it shocked them. Their mother was lying on the floor unconscious, blood dripping from her head, her body completely bruised. The father with a beer bottle in his hand next to her staring angry at the twins.

"What is it, dad?" Haechan asked stepping in front of haewon trying to protect her.

"you clean up the goddamn house it's so fucking dirty here it's shameful already, as for you, girl go buy me a coffee and bring it to me to work I need to go"

with that he left the house.

as soon as he was out the door haewon and Haechan ran to their mothers side. haewon immediately checked the pulse. "she is still alive" sighing they both got up. haewon getting the first-aid kid while Haechan got the cleaning supplies.

Quickly patching the mother up haewon put everything away getting some money out of the kitchen taking a last glance at her brother.

"Don't worry about me I got this, go to dad you know this is more important"

after Haechan said that, haewon nodded running out of the house to the nearest coffee shop. at the coffee shop she didn't quiet know what she should order for him since he kept changing what he wants to drink.

But since he didn't say anything now y/n just decided for a normal coffee adding some sugar into it, since that was what he drank pretty often hoping he would accept it. Paying for it haewon made her way out of the café towards the company her dad was working in.

getting into the building she greeted all of the workers since they all knew her. It happened pretty often that either haewon or Haechan came into the company delivering something for their dad.

walking up to the office haewon gulped. taking a deep breath before actually knocking on the office door.

"come in"

opening the door haewon slowly made her way into the office seeing her dad behind his desk with the men in front of him.

"Here is your coffee" she said softly, placing it on the table.

"what a kind daughter you are, bringing your dad coffee to work and that's voluntary" one of the men said.

haewon took a look at her dad unsure of what to answer.

"Y-yes I wanted to make sure he has enough energy for work" she answered with a smile after seeing the mad look in the eyes of her dad. despite the small stutter her dad seemed quiet pleased with her response looking at the two men again.

She was just about to go when the second man said: "stay dear, I want to get to know you a bit" haewon looked at her dad for him to approve. He stared a second into her eyes making her shudder.

"Sure, stay I will pick you up when I'm done with my work. knowing he only approved because he could make the men like him more because of haewon making better deals, she followed the man to another office spending the next hours with him.

it was already late evening. around 8pm when the man brought her back to her dad finally being able to go home. the man she was with was very friendly just talking and enjoying the time. he even bought her some candies out of the vending machine.

haewon knew she needed him to like her in order to not get her dad angry. but it wasn't bad she liked the man, learning his name being Bang Chan. He owned a smaller company, yet his company was very well-known which is why haewon's dad wanted to have a collaboration between the company's for his own benefit.

saying goodbye to Chan haewon and her dad went to the car driving home.

It was already dark outside when they arrived at their house. The weird thing: not a single light was on, the whole house was dark.

haewon carefully trailed behind her dad trying to not get him more mad than he already was because he wasn't seeing Haechan nor her mother.

Suddenly she heard a loud bang coming from the kitchen.

as she got into the kitchen she saw her dad already drinking again. "It's all your fault your fucking slut get out of my sight" he yelled at haewon before leaving the kitchen.

ouch. that was the hardest thing he had ever said.

turning your face back to the kitchen haewon saw a note on the table. curious she took it reading it.

after she read it, she broke down.

why?
