The next day...
I woke up inside of a small tent on a cot. My back ached as I turned to the side to be met with a mixture of herbs stacked near one end, and the smoking remains of an old fire.
I must be in some sort of an infirmary.
I sat up, and saw through a small gap in the tent that there was a gathering outside. I got up, peeling off the the blanket that stuck to me and walked outside to see Aang and Katara standing in front of a crowd. I saw Sokka standing in front of a neighboring tent with his arms crossed and stood next to him.
"Are you feeling better?"
"Yeah, my head doesn't hurt anymore," I smiled back.
We both turned our attention back to the crowd.
An old woman spoke, "No one has seen an airbender in a hundred years. We thought they were extinct. Until my granddaughter and grandson found you."
I could see the color drain from Aang's face as he glanced over towards me. We made eye contact as I slightly nodded my head as if I was mentally telling him:
We'll talk about this later.
He turned back towards the old woman as Katara urges the conversation forward.
"Aang, this is my grandmother."
"Call me Gran Gran."
Sokka walked up to Aang and grabbed his staff, "What is this, a weapon?"
I laughed to myself as I knew that this would cheer Aang up. He loves to use his glider.
Aang used a small air current to bring his glider back into his hand, "It's not for stabbing. It's for airbending!"
He tapped the end of the staff on the ground, and a pair of brilliant orange wings spread out. Sokka flinched at glider, and the children were bubbling with excitement.
"Magic trick!"
"Do it again!"
"Wow!"
"Magic!"
"Not magic." Aang responded, "Airbending. I can control the air currents around my glider and fly!"
"Last time I checked, humans can't fly."
I watched in amusement as Aang shot me a sideways look and I gave him a thumbs up. I know Aang is extremely talented with his glider, and Sokka was gonna have to check again. We all watched him fly around the small village before he crashed into a snow tower. I ducked back into the tent and sucked in a deep, bone chilling breath.
I really need to find some warmer clothes soon, I thought while rubbing my arms.
Sokka walked into my tent holding something in his hands.
"Hey, Y/N? Here. You don't look like your properly dressed for the cold so I think you should have this."
He held out an outfit similar to Katara's and I took it out of his arms.
"Thanks! I was afraid I was gonna turn into an ice sculpture if I didn't find a proper coat soon."
He let a small laugh escape his lips before he walked out and closed the flap on the tent. "Just let me know once your done in there and I'll give you a quick tour!"
Time skip: After the tour...
"Thanks for showing me around! I'm not sure how long Aang and I will stay, but we'll make sure to help out so we aren't much of a burden."
