"Hey Alex." She said. He ignored her until she came up closer. She smiled all in his face.
"Hi." He said trying to walk off. She pulled him back which pulled me back. She hugged him tight and I let go of him. She let go and turned around to me.
"It's been a while, but I'm back for the end."she whispered in my ear. I wanted to push her away from me, but that wasn't the right thing to do. I walked out the door and to the car. I waited for Alex to come out. I waited for him to come unlock the doors.
"What did she say to you?" Alex said as I got in. I ignored him and he didn't start the car. I put my seatbelt on and waited. I was getting really impatient so I got my phone out. I was looking at a text and Alex snatched my phone out my hand.
"I know you hear me talking to you." He said. I reached for my phone and he moved it back.
"I do hear you. Just drive." I said rudely sitting back in my seat folding my arms.
"Well if we leave without you telling me what's going on you not getting this back." He said motioning to my phone. I looked out the window.
"She said it's been a while, but she's back for the end." His eyes widened a little.
"What happened between yall?" I shrugged.
"I don't even know her. She hasn't liked me since freshman year. I don't know what her problem is."
"I don't either, but I can say nothing going to happen this time. Oh yeah I meant to tell you that Ashley is not a problem anymore." I looked over at him. I was still mad that he hadn't started the car.
"Can you drive? I really don't want to hear about her." He nodded. I could tell he was getting mad. Just him not saying anything let me know he was mad. He looked at the school and started the car.
"Alex I think you should go to your moms by yourself." He put his head back int he seat and sighed.
"No I need you to come. I really don't want to see him like this. The support would be nice." I tried to look at him. I knew he was hurting a lot. His dad had been sick for a long time and it wasn't looking to good.
"Okay. Are you mad at me?" I saw him look at me out of the corner of my eye. He touched my hand and rubbed it a little. I looked down at our hands. I put my hand in his and tried to smile. He raised my head up and made me look at him.
"No. I think I need to be asking you that." I shook my head. I tried to smile as he kissed my cheek.
"Let's just go." I said. He drove off towards the house. He held onto my hand while he drove. He pulled into the driveway a few minutes later. I let go of his hand and opened my door. He sat still for a second and then got out.
"You ready?" I asked. He knocked on the door and the dog barked. No one answered the door, but the dog continued to bark. I moved behind Alex and put my hands on his shoulders. I only moved because I wanted him to get the dog if somebody answered the door
"Stay right here. Let me get this dog." He said. He got his keys out and unlocked the door. He opened the door a little and slipped inside. He closed it behind him and got the dog.
A few minutes later he opened the door for me. I walked in and saw a mess. He closed the door and I stood there looking around. A lot has changed since the last time I was there. It looked like everything was different. Alex walked in front of me but I didn't move.
"Myra come on." He said I looked at him. He was standing on the stairs waiting for me. He really caught me off guard. I walked up the stairs slowly. I was a little nervous because I've never seen Alex's dad anything but happy. He loved his family. He loved when I came over.
