Liam's P.O.V.
Braven and Axle come running in my room and see the body and blood everywhere. I look up at them with a wicked grin. It has been a while since I have had the chance to taste blood and kill. I let out another howl. Grim is beyond happy to smell the blood of a fresh victim.
I hear footsteps and more people start running in. I growl at all of them. They all look at me hovering over Jordan's body with a sadistic smile. My glare is icy, and some warriors start to charge me, but Braven and Axle hold them back. Others drop to the floor mourning the loss of their Luna. I roll my eyes and shift into my wolf form. I push through the crowd carrying Jordan's body in my mouth.
I run to the training field and drop the body in the middle of a clearing. I howl and summon the pack to come to the clearing. Braven and Axle had followed me already, so they begin to set up. I shift back and wait for everyone to gather.
I stand on a podium and look down at all the wolves in front of me. Some stare at me with fear, others look as if they are ready to rip my throat out. I flash my canines and growl to make all subjects submit to me.
I start to explain the situation to the pack. They probably all think I'm crazy to rip my own mate's throat out. I open my mouth to speak but feel myself able to form words. I try again to voice out anything and again am left not being to speak. Damn Jordan. She must be pissed I'm demanding her pack to follow me. She had to mute me. That is the only explanation I can come up with. I turn to Braven and link him. I explain to him what is going on and he nods. Braven turns to the pack to explain. He goes to start and someone clears their throat cutting him off.
I feel her presence before I see her. If her pack was smart, they would have realized their link had not been cut from their Luna. Jordan walks onto the podium and everyone freezes. I rub my mate's shoulders and smile. She lets out a low growl and looks around to see what all the commotion is.
Jordan rubs her eyes and begins to wake up more. I see her eyes scan through the crowd and she stops at the body lying in the middle of the field. Jordan shows no surprise and just walks over to the body. Her pack divides out of her way, but they never take their eyes off her. Everyone's face is pure shock as they look from the corpse to their Luna. Jordan bends over the body that resembles her. She mutters some words, no doubt summoning some power to disenchant the body.
Black gas pours into the sky as the dark magic is ripped out of the person. Their soul will forever be tainted, but they are no longer able to hide behind the illusion. Jordan's lip trembles as the corpse that was her becomes the small body of Leah. The crowd is filled with gasping, cheers, and howls of happiness. Jordan turns back to face the pack. Our eyes lock and she states her order, "Burn the body."
People begin to gasp. Burning a werewolf's body is usually only used on rogues or prisoners. It does not allow them to reincarnate, it completely rids the body. The Moon Goddess does not condone the action, but that doesn't seem to bother Jordan.
"Why are you all still standing there looking at me? The body needs to be burned. Alpha Drake sent this girl in to distract my mate and fool you all into believing she was me. The girl was under his control the whole time. Burn the fucking body," she is infuriated by the end. Her warriors step forward and grab the girl's body. They move her away from the crowd and light the body on fire. Jordan lets out a grunt of satisfaction.
"You are all to go back to your rooms and sleep. In the morning, be prepared. We go to war." Jordan begins walking back to the house leaving everyone behind her dumbfounded. They all slowly wake up from the daze and follow their Luna's demand.
I take off running after her. When I catch up to her, I grab her arm and pull her back to face me. She growls and pulls her arm out of my hand. I look at her and flash my canines. I have no time for her to be acting like a brat. She wants to declare war when we are unprepared.
"What the fuck are you thinking?" It comes out harsh and she takes a step back. Hurt flashes through her eyes briefly before she goes back to having her walls up. "We are not prepared to go to war Jordan. My forces will not be here for days. We have not worked out the treaty between your pack and his. We have no idea what we are going up against. Clearly, Alpha Drake has gotten stronger if he was able to control Leah," I start rambling off all the reasons this is a bad idea. Jordan holds up her hand to stop me.
"Do not ever dare question me on how I lead MY pack. Know your place Liam," her eyes flash between black and their normal green. Jordan wants to shift, and she wants to bite my head off. "My pack is plenty strong without your forces if I wasn't sure of that, I would not endanger them. We have some intel and that is enough for me to figure out a strategy. Leah was a weak pup who had just shifted. Her mind would've been quite easy for him to control," Jordan explains and tries to calm herself down.
"I'm not questioning you. I am worried that you are not thinking and just blindly running into this war without thinking. You are allowing your emotions to cloud your judgement, Jordan!" I am screaming by the end. She is so damn stubborn. Does she not realize the dangers that may lie ahead? Does she not get that she could get hurt?
Jordan's eyes turn black and she snarls at me. Rather than give me any type of response or reaction, she flips her long hair and whips me in the face with it. I growl and she walks away with her head up high.
What the fuck am I supposed to do with a mate like her? Jordan is too damn stubborn and prideful. I shake my head and run after her again. I love a chase, but this one is getting old.
