Liam's P.O.V.
Jordan reassures me several times that she will be okay before I finally release my grip so she may go meet with Oliver. I do not allow her to go to her Beta's office alone though. I am by her side while we walk through the manor. I wanted to carry her, but she insisted she could walk. Grim has not stopped yipping and wagging his tail in my mind all day. He is so happy that she is awake and back with us.
Me? Well, this mate bond has me up her ass. I hate the idea of being away from her. When I stormed out earlier, I walked down the hall, hid my scent, and then stood next to her hospital room door. I didn't intrude or bother her, but I was watching the whole time. Not in a creepy way, I just feel like she is so fragile right now and I do not want anything hurting her.
I look back down at my mate to reassure myself that she is still next to me. I grab her hand and intertwine our fingers, immediately feeling more relaxed and calmer. Jordan does not pull away, but I saw her nose scrunch up in disgust at my sudden touch. Despite trying to seem like she hates me, I know the mate bond is affecting her too.
She clears her throat once we reach the door to her Beta's office. She tries to free her hand, but my grip tightens and she just sighs. Jordan swings the door open and Oliver looks up from his desk filled with paperwork everywhere. "Luna.." Oliver begins, but Jordan shakes her head.
"Oliver, I know you have taken on all of the duties around here as I have been in a comatose state. I want to run over battle plans with you. You will join the warriors in the fight, but I will stay here and finish up on all of this," Jordan waves her hand around at the desk. I mentally jump up and down when she says she will not be joining us in battle, but a part of me knows something else is going on. We were just fighting about this topic and she was not agreeing with me then. I scrunch my nose up and look her over. Jordan moves to sit down across from Oliver.
"Luna, I can get this all done. I promise! It has just been overwhelming situating everyone, plus we got fifteen new requests to join our pack all in one day. I haven't even started looking over their applications, and I've had to deal with everyone getting pissed about his warriors," Oliver looks at me accusingly and Jordan stiffens. She turns to face me.
"So you mean to tell me, that not only has my Beta been pulling my weight, he has also been dealing with YOUR pack as well?" Jordan has her arms crossed and I can see the anger in her eyes. She is livid, but in my defense my MATE was in a coma! I could careless about the warriors adjusting. My eyes go black as Grim takes over.
"Luna, we have been worried about our mates' wellbeing not our warriors and YOUR pack," Grim states and rolls his eyes. Jordan is on her feet at once. Grim is in total control at this point. He wants dominance over our mate and is fed up with her disrespect. My wolf is a bit more defensive about respect and titles than me.
Our comment did not settle well with her because her eyes go black as well and I can feel the hostile energy coming off her. Beta Oliver does as well and audibly gulp and looks between us. "Well, MATE, you should be worried about your fucking pack and mine as well, if you ever expect us to rule together. Pack life comes before anything else. As a Royal Alpha, I would assume you would know how to prioritize, but clearly you can't be bothered to handle anything." Estelle has control as well, but I know Jordan is just as pissed as she is. "You are just like all the other asshole alphas who do not care to overwork their lower ranks. Honestly, you are pathetic to even think you can use my wellbeing as a way out of work." Estelle finishes and at this point she is standing and glaring daggers at me. If looks could kill, I would have been dead the moment I opened my mouth.
"Aw, Estelle. My pretty mate, I'm so happy to interact with you finally," Grim states, but he is far from happy. He is pissed at our mate's response to us. How dare she talk to me this way? Beta Oliver has yet to move at all. He is taking very shallow, quiet breaths as if him breathing too loud will cause all hell to break loose. Which he may not be wrong. I avert my eyes back to Jordan and a smirk takes over. She is fuming.
"Despite what you may think, I am more than capable of running and controlling my pack and yours as well if I pleased. I have handled your mouth and complete disrespect for long enough pup. Submit to me and stop your childish brat ways," The growl emanating from my chest right now has Oliver showing his neck in submission, but Jordan? Jordan bust out laughing.
Estelle and her combined laugh are like an angelic melody that blesses your ears. It is so beautiful, and I feel Grim starting to calm down and lose his anger completely. He allows me to have control back. My eyes return to their blue color and I look at Jordan expecting hers to be green as well.
Oh boy was I wrong. Estelle is in total control now and she is livid. She approaches me like I am her prey, her eyes are jet black and never leave mine. I nervously chuckle and look at Oliver for any help, but he puts his hands up in surrender.
I look back at Jordan and am surprised when she is no longer in front of me. I feel something behind me and whip around to find her. Bad move. She has me pinned on the wall by my throat in an instant.
