Jordan's P.O.V.

I've been driving for about an hour, and we haven't spoken at all. I've refrained from looking at Liam as well. My tears keep rolling down my cheeks, but I am silent. Liam has been staring for a really long time and it is starting to piss me off, but I don't want to initiate contact because I know he will ask what's wrong. I haven't accepted it myself, how am I supposed to tell him?

"Jordan... We said we would talk when I got back," Liam pulls me from my thoughts, and I gulp. Here we go. "There's a lot that we need to discuss... Drake has brought some points up to the council," Liam starts to trail off and my eyebrows furrow.

"What are you talking about Liam? Spit it out," I question back, my voice is wavering because of my tears. I hate appearing weak. I sound hopeless, but I can't seem to get myself under control at all. My body feels so foreign to me, I don't know who I am anymore.

"You are on trial to see if the council thinks you are suitable to rule beside me," He blurts out and I feel my blood run cold. Are you fucking kidding me? A trial to see if I am fit to rule. Of fucking course, I can rule the wolves. I've been running my pack for a year, very successfully.

"Why am I on trial for such a bullshit thing? Liam, you know as well as I do that, I am more than fit to rule beside you. My pack is the strongest pack on this side of the United States. The council trained me! Why the fuck am I on trial?!" I'm more pissed at the fact that don't think I'm capable of such a thing.

"Drake... He said some things to me and the council," Liam trails off again and I feel myself becoming more agitated with him.

"Can you fucking spit it out already Liam? You're annoying me." I mumble out and look over at him. I can see the worry in his eyes, but I keep my face as emotionless as possible. I may be crying, but I don't need his fucking sympathy.

"Drake said you were dangerous, and the council is aware you have swapped wolves since training with them. They are aware you are very powerful, and they said you are a good person, but they fear you may lose your shit one day. The Royal Luna cannot be lashing out and killing everyone," Liam hurriedly rushes it all out.

I pull the car into a fast food restaurant. I wipe my face and grab my wallet. My mind is racing a mile a minute. They seriously are that afraid of me. How pathetic. "I'm going to get some food, if you want anything then come on," I pull my visor down and look at myself in the little mirror. I look awful. My face is pale and blotchy. My eyes are bloodshot from crying all night and day. A sigh leaves my lips as I unbuckle the seatbelt and move to get out. Liam pushes the button to turn my car off and grabs the keys from the cupholder, since I stupidly forgot to do either.

I give him a small smile and then exit the car. "Jordan?" Liam exits the car and looks over at me from the other side. Our eyes lock and he smiles, "I know you probably don't think this right now, but you look beautiful today." The heat rushes back to my cheeks and I'm blushing again. Damn mate bond and Liam with his stupid, sweet words.

"Thank you, Liam," my eyes look at the ground and I begin walking to the door of the restaurant. Liam locks the car and hurries to catch up to me. We walk side by side and he opens the door when we reach it. We order our food and pick a table to sit at.

"You know, this is technically our first date," He smirks and shoves some more fries in his mouth. I shake my head and chew up my cheeseburger that is already in my mouth.

"No, I don't want this to be our first date. We can just call this hanging out. I look awful, we've had a rough few days, let's just try for a date another day," I explain before taking another bite and gulping down some soda.

He nods his head in understanding, "You do not look awful. I told you earlier that you looked beautiful and you do. But you're right, it's been rough. Soon we will have a perfect date though." He grins and I resume eating.

We finish up rather quickly and head back to the car. I head toward the driver seat, but Liam beats me there. I groan.

"Jordan, let me drive. You can take a nap the rest of the way, so you're refreshed for your mom's," he gives me a small smile and I nod, agreeing. I am tired and don't feel like arguing. Plus, I hate driving anyway. He hops in as I walk to the other side. Once we both are settled and I enter the address in the GPS, we set off.

We don't get twenty minutes down the road before the darkness takes over, and I fall asleep. I just pray the nightmares don't take me down the darkest path of all...
