Marinette sat up, her hand still on Chat Blanc's back. She was pleading, Cauchenoir knew it from the tone of her voice, but it could only tilt its head in confusion, ears lowered slightly. Marinette nervously reached her hand out to it, trying to keep her hand from shaking.

Cauchenoir pressed its misshapen nose against Marinette's palm. She paused for a bit, removing her hand and placing it between the two fuzzy ears. The monster closed its eyes and purred sweetly, rubbing up against her hand. Marinette eased a bit, knowing her kitty was still in there. As much as its distorted human features made her want to back away, Marinette knew she had to keep this monster from hurting someone. She held its face in both hands, trying her best to look loving and unworried.

Marinette tensed as the beast came closer, it pink tongue slipping out to lovingly lick her cheek. It kept purring as it pressed its body against hers, its fur setting an uncomfortable warmth on Marinette. She wrapped her arms around the misshapen creature's rumbling chest as it laid its head on her shoulder.

The creature abruptly began to growl and it whirled around, facing Chat Blanc, who had his staff raised to attack. Marinette tried to back away, and Cauchenoir turned to her, its growling getting lower as it stepped forward. Panic seeped into her as she backed up further.

" LEAVE HER ALONE!" Chat Blanc roared, making another swing with his staff. Cauchenoir snarled, beginning to circle him. His sky blue eyes met Marinette's, more human than she'd ever seen, and saw them soften just a bit. She was safe. The monster pounced. Chat Blanc shot off a Cataclysm, causing the floor about a foot around him to collapse from underneath him. The beast's claws only tore his left cat ear as he fell.

Cauchenoir's front paws missed the edge, causing it to fall into the hole as well. Marinette reached out to them, crying out for Adrien. She ran over to the hole, spying her earring lying not too far from it. Marinette scrabbled along the edge of the hole, reaching for the other half of her miraculous. The floor, weak from the destructive power of Chat Blanc, quickly crumbled underneath her just as she laid her hand on it.

Cauchenoir could hear a pained whimper from not to far back. Its green eyes flickered towards the sound, seeing Marinette trying to get up. The monster made a u-turn, barreling toward her. Chat Blanc noticed the metallic clacking of its back paws start heading the other way, and whirled around. He whirled around, seeing Marinette in pain from landing hard on her hip on top of the rubble. The white cat tried desperately to get to her before the monster did.

Marinette looked up from her pained haze, letting out a terrified scream as she saw both akumas in a mad dash right to her.
