Day Trip

Outside was gray and the clouds seem heavy like they'll fall anytime soon. It's not entirely gray; part of the sky was still clear but they all knew what  it was. It was going to rain. They've never experienced rain before and they were excited. By now it was clear to everyone that they were out of supplies which made everyone on edge. There was no medical supplies and no food. Well at least when it came to food, they'd organize a hunting party to go hunt small animals which by the way didn't satisfy their needs. They needed to go to mount weather. Thought Clarke to herself. After what happened to Jasper, no one was eager to go that far from camp again, most of them were scared of the so called grounders who to the kids seemed to be pure savages. Ever since Jasper, there hasnt been any grounder incident but that didn't scare them any less.

"Bellamy, we need to head to mount weather again, that is where we'll find more supplies. Until the ark comes down, we're on our own." said Clarke to Bellamy.

"Why are you telling me all this?, Shouldn't you be with your group of friends?" Questioned Bellamy. After knowing about the chancellor and the radio, Raven convinced Clarke and her friends that Bellamy is not to be trusted because they don't know what he's capable of doing.

Clarke sighed," I can't ask any of them, Monty won't come because of Jasper, even though Finn and Wells don't say anything, I know for a fact that they're scared to go again and—and I can't ask Octavia to go with me now can I ??"

" So, you clearly think I'm expendable?" said Bellamy with a smirk.

"Nooo, not at all, I just think–that—," Clarke hadn't realized how close Bellamy had moved towards her and they were now inches apart.

"What do you think, princess?" said Bellamy still a smirk on his face. Clarke couldn't speak, her mind couldn't form the thoughts that she wanted to say out loud. He is so close. She thought. She could feel her heart thumping hard trying to get off her chest. She could feel his heat radiating off of him.

"Fine, I'll go with you." said Bellamy and stepped back, making Clarke breathe out heavily. She'd been holding her breath without noticing.

"Okay, I'll meet you outside in 10, make sure no one notices that you're leaving" and with that she ran off leaving Bellamy smiling.

Even though Clarke had told him to make sure no one notices that he was leaving, he had to tell Octavia just incase anything happens to him. Octavia was with Monty and a recovering Jasper. Clarke did that. He thought to himself. He couldn't help but admire her. Her kindness and how selfless she was. With grounders or not, she was still willing to risk her life to go out again if it meant they get to have supplies to last them longer before the ark comes down.

"Octavia," called Bellamy turning their attention to him. Soon after she saw her brother, Octavia smiled. He loved her, she was like a ray of sunshine, he would do anything to keep her safe.

"Clarke and I are heading out, to mount weather and——," He was cut short by Octavia's pleadings of wanting to come. He had to explain to her that it was better for them to go alone, that way they wouldn't draw attention to themselves and attract grounders. He promises her he'd be back before she knew it and with that gave her a quick hug and left.

                            •————•
Clarke was already outside of the camp waiting for Bellamy. Where is he? She thought to herself while taking a look at her watch. It was old. Her dad had given it to her telling her it was for good luck. The battery had died a long time ago but Clarke still loved looking at it. It gave her peace of mind.

"Always on time princess," said Bellamy while approaching her.

"You're late," was all an impatient Clarke said before she took off.

"You see that," said Clarke while pointing at the clouds. "It might rain today, and I don't want to be outside camp when it happens."

"Yes ma'am," said a now irritated Bellamy.
By late afternoon Bellamy and Clarke had left the camp far behind and were pacing over seemingly endless broad, flat swatches of high grass and trees. The sky was now tar- black and the large clouds were now moving towards them. They had tapping on the ground and then it became a pittie-patter. They both looked at the sky and let the rain pour on their faces. They were both smiling now in silence, the only sound being the one made from the rain hitting the ground and birds singing, a clear sign that they too are enjoying the rain.

They continued walking on the rain, it seemed harmless at first but soon enough the puddles began plinking as the rainfall became heavier. The rain sounded like the buzzing of angry bees. Thought Clarke.

They quickened their pace as the clouds began to gather in the sky. Up to now, the sky had been post- card perfect but it was changing. So much rain was falling on the ground now that the sound blurred into one long, whirring noise. Suddenly, lightning lit the skies in brilliant streaks. Fog embraced every tree, every square centimetre of the ground. Thunder declared itself as some rock star upon the stage. Sheets of rain revived the grass, resounding and rippling without frontier.

"We need to take cover, I never imagined lightning as this scary," said Clarke, she was shivering from the cold. Clarke wishes she remembered where the bunker was, with all the rain and fog, she didnt know the right way. At this moment, she regreted not asking Wells to come with. Things would have been much easier with him around. They always were.

They kept on moving, hoping to find any kind of shelter that would save them from this nightmare that began like a daydream. Clarke had honestly lost all hope until she noticed something. Another bunker. She thought. It was an underground bunker as she was stepping on it. She and Bellamy opened the latch and got in. Finally. She sighed. It's going to be a long day. Thought Clarke.
