Catherine POV
"Who was that?" Mom asked immediately I entered the living room
"Ummm Mrs Nowels nephew, she told him to drop me since he was going the same direction as me"
Mother's expression gave away that she straight didn't believe me
"I hope that's true I don't want any trouble"
"You can ask her mom if you don't believe me"
She took out her phone
"Give me her number" she said looking at her phone
"Mom are you serious?" I asked surprised
"Yes, you think just because you told me it's their nephew then I'll drop it? Pass me the number"she said in all seriousness
I sighed
I gave her the number and she dialed it
The house went silent as she waited for someone at the end of the call to answer
I couldn't believe she just did that, but what can I say, you know how African parents are
"Hello good evening.........it's Cathy's mother.....hey....thank you.....no no everything's fine I just wanted to confirm on something.........if you told your nephew to drop her home......ooh thank you ......you know kids nowadays.....yea...(chuckles)....nonono thank you....bye" she cut the call
"I told you" I said when the call ended
She glared at me
Alright I just shut up before she got mad for real
I entered our room and took off my clothes remaining with my underwear and bra and wrapped myself with a towel and got out of the room
"Can we talk after you're done with your bath?" Mom asked seated on the sofa
"Ummm okay"
She sounded nervous
"What is it about? Is everything okay?"
"Yea everything's fine go bath first"
"Okay"
There were two things that were on my mind when I turned the shower on, Terrence and what mom wanted to talk about
I wondered what mom wanted to talk about, I hope it was good news
I hope she finally found someone, she looked happy these past few months
I really was hoping for a lot of things
Everything was fine, or so I hope. We had enough food and bills were paid just a week ago so what was eating her up now?
Putting my mother's issue aside I couldn't believe Terrence asked for my number, I was so surprised he did but I shouldn't get my hopes up
He has changed a lot, physically I mean. He definitely is hot now with his body in shape and he looked more attractive
Dating him would be impossible but I just couldn't stop liking him
If only he wasn't rich
I got out with my towel wrapped around me and went to our room and wore my night dress
I got out with my towel in my hands and left it the bathroom and went back to the living and sat next to mom
She was silent as she looked at the screen in front of us, I knew all to well she wasn't really watching TV, her mind was somewhere else
