Terrence POV

"Your mother isn't here yet" I heard my father say through his teeth

I checked the time and it was 19:34 that was too late for even being late according to my dad

I panicked, she has never been this late from work. And the fact that my dad didn't know her whereabouts didn't help the situation

Maybe something happened to her

I stood up abruptly running towards where we keep our car keys

I heard Father calling me in the background but I didn't give him any attention

I took one of the keys and started heading towards the garage when a hand stopped and turned me violently

I look up to see my father glaring at me

"Where do you think you're going" he shouted

"To look for her, she never-"

"DO YOU THINK I DIDN'T SEARCH FOR HER? I DID DAMMIT"

I've never seen him this stressed and angry before

His behavior wasn't making things any better

"I called her several times, she didn't pick up the phone and when she finally did she only said she'll be home late coz she knew I was searching for her"

He touched his forehead with the tips of his fingers trying to calm himself

"Go and eat she'll be home soon" he said not believing his own words

I did as I was told, this would go worse if I disobeyed, he could do anything at this point

Mom always told us dad had anger issues and she's the only one to calm him down if things go sideways

I didn't plan to be on his bad side and worsen the matter

I found Teresa just a few steps from us, we both went to the dining table and ate silently

"Where do you think mom went" Teresa whispered "you're more closer to her than I am... you must know"

I looked at her and sighed

I found what she said completely annoying

10 minutes passed and we were all in the living room waiting for her impatiently

Teresa and I didn't dare talk, the room was silent with dad seated on the couch with his elbows on his bouncing knees

We heard a car sound and soon enough the front door opened revealing an exhausted looking woman

Mom

I sighed in relief as soon as she came into my peripheral vision

I sprinted off running towards her and hugged her, Teresa joined in a second later and she hugged us back

I was happy to see that she was fine and I'm sure everyone was too

"Where were you?" I heard dad ask

He sounded a lot more angry than happy or worried about mom

"You guys go to your rooms okay" she said breaking the hug

We did as we were told

Well not completely because we stood at the end of the stairs to eavesdrop

"Where were you?" Dad asked again

"I... i-i-i w-w-was..."

"JUST TELL ME!!... why are you stuttering? Is it a place you can't tell me?"
