Featuring! Gilbird
-
At first, he had been more of an occasional presence than a constant one—a shadow in the background of your life, flitting in and out of your orbit whenever he saw fit. You had worked under Ludwig, his younger brother, for quite some time now, and while Ludwig was disciplined, meticulous, and dependable, Gilbert was... not.
He was loud. He was cocky. He was absolutely ridiculous.
And yet, somehow, he had wormed his way into your heart anyway.
Gilbert wasn't around as often as Ludwig, but when he was, he made sure you knew it. From the moment he first barged into the office one afternoon, dramatically draping himself across your desk while complaining about how boring Ludwig was, he had thrown your carefully structured world into complete and utter chaos.
At first, you tried to ignore him. You had work to do, and Gilbert had an uncanny ability to distract you from it. But ignoring him was nearly impossible—especially when he made it his personal mission to get you to acknowledge his presence.
And maybe you had found his antics annoying at first. Maybe his dramatic storytelling and exaggerated sense of self-importance had been a little too much for you to handle.
But then, there had been moments.
Moments where you saw the cracks in his loud, over the top persona. Moments where he wasn't just Prussia, the self-proclaimed "Most Awesome Person Ever," but simply Gilbert—the man who, despite everything, had a softer, more thoughtful side hidden beneath all that bravado.
The first time you saw him genuinely laugh—not the exaggerated, smug chuckle he used to taunt people, but a real, unguarded laugh, you realized there was something about him that made the world feel... warmer.
And maybe you fell for him a little bit that day.
You weren't sure when exactly things shifted between the two of you, but one day, you looked up and suddenly, you weren't just tolerating his presence—you were waiting for it, every time he bursted through Ludwig's office space those times to times.
And now, here you were.
The sun hung lazily in the sky, radiating warmth over the rolling green hills. A soft breeze whispered through the wildflowers, carrying the scent of fresh grass and summer blossoms. The trees in the distance swayed gently, their rustling leaves adding a soothing melody to the afternoon. It was the kind of day that made you want to lie in the sun and forget the rest of the world existed.
You glanced over at the man beside you, who was currently preoccupied with struggling to get a particularly stubborn picnic basket open.
"Verdammt! Why is this thing so ughhh—stupid?!"
Gilbert, ever the embodiment of energy and dramatics, was wrestling with the latch of the basket as if it were some ancient treasure chest keeping him from an otherworldly feast. His white hair, already messy from the wind, flopped over his forehead as he scowled at the unyielding lid.
From his perch atop Gilbert's head, Gilbird let out an amused chirp, as if mocking his owner's struggle.
You stifled a laugh, sitting down on the red gingham printed blanket and leaning forward to gently pry the basket from his grip. "Gil, you just have to...there." With a simple flick of your fingers, the latch clicked open with ease.
Gilbert blinked, his ruby-red eyes widening with such a surprise.
"That's not fair," he huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "It was uh, clearly rigged against me."
