"John Laurens is gonna live." The doctor smiled.
A/N: Did y'all really think I was gonna kill him? Come on, the kid's the star of my book.

They all sighed in relief. "Is he awake, can we go see him?" Alexander asked.

"Not yet. He's being transferred to a different room right now, and he won't be awake for awhile." The nurse informed.

"Ok, thank you." Washington smiled.
The doctor left the room and went back to his work. "I swear, that kid is gonna give me a heart attack someday."

"But we love him anyway." Martha smiled and held her husband's hand.

Eliza went in to see Peggy. The nurse said she could be discharged that day, if she went home and remembered to change the bandage on her arm everyday. She was resting peacefully. If Laurens was going to live and no one could even see him right now, what was the harm in letting her sleep in for a little while?
Eliza did however break the news to Angelica and her father.

"Oh, that's a relief. What time is it anyway?" Angelica asked.

"Almost 3:15am. I could really use some sleep, but I'd like to see Laurens before I leave." Eliza answered.

"Should I wake Peggy?" Ange questioned.

"Let her sleep. She'll want to see him if we woke her, and he can't have visitors yet." Eliza replied.

"Ok. Well, at least let me know when he can, I'll wake her up then." Angelica nodded.

Eliza also gave a nod and turned to go back outside. This night had been a disaster on many different levels. Peggy was a wreck, Laurens was dying, they never caught the drunk driver who had now put five people in the hospital. Who knew what would happen next.

After another hour or so, Laurens was finally offered visitors. His whole family, plus two of the Schuyler sisters, were there to see him. He was still asleep. Peggy hadn't woken up yet, and when Angelica and Eliza tried to wake her, the nurse told them they should let her rest. So they did.

When they all walked into the hospital room, it was a sad sight to see. Laurens was covered in blood from head to toe, the many bandages were not helping that much. He was barely breathing, and had an oxygen tube under his nose. A big bag of blood was next to him and connected to his arm. Eyes shut and asleep.

"Oh my gosh." Martha gasped. She silently began to cry. She loved her children very much, even if they weren't her biological children. She loved them as if they were. This hurt her very much.

Lafayette just stood in shock. He couldn't say anything. Even if he tried.

"He'll be alright." Alexander wrapped his arm around his shoulders.

"Yeah, but it doesn't make this any better." Laf whimpered.

When the morning finally came, Alexander and Lafayette had passed out in the second bed and in the arm chair. Martha was failing to fall asleep in another chair. But Washington stayed strong and waited. After awhile, he decided to go downstairs and get some coffee to help.

Peggy woke up at about 8:23. Eliza remembered she still didn't know if Laurens was gonna live or die. So she filled her in.

"Why didn't you wake me!" Peggy exclaimed.

"We tried to, but the nurse said to let you rest. You can go see him now." Eliza informed her.

Peggy jumped out of bed and went to find him. Not caring about the throbbing pain in her arm. She came across the room and went in. Heartbroken at what was before her. No one else in the room was awake, and Washington still hadn't come back yet. She sat down in the chair closest to the bed, and pulled it up a few more inches so she was right beside him.
