"You wanna go out tonight?" Peggy asked.
"To where?" Laurens questioned.
"Dinner or a movie?"
Peggy hadn't told Laurens about the lunch or the conversation she had with Stephen. She didn't want to upset him. She still felt like she needed to somehow make it up to him. Even if he were to never find out. She just needed to.
"How about dinner?" Peggy asked.
"I guess so. Is there a special occasion?" Laurens raised an eye brow.
"No, I just want to spend some time with you." She smiled and wrapped her arm around his. "Shall we?"
"You seem weird. Not like sad or angry, but not normal. Is there something you're not telling me?" John tilted his head.
"I'm fine. I just love you!"
Laurens didn't buy it, but he didn't bother asking any other questions.
"I'll see you later tonight then. What time?" Laurens stated.
"6:30-ish. I'll text you when I get done with my stuff. I'll pick you up." Peggy said as she gathered her things.
"Ok." Laurens nodded. "I really need a car."
"Don't beat yourself up. You already have like a thousand dollars and you don't even have a job." Peggy smiled. "You're doing great honey."
"Heh."
"I know, I sound like a mom."
"I actually wouldn't have known last year. At least I know now." Laurens reminded her. "But thanks for bringing the topic up." He joked.
"Right. Sorry about that."
"Don't worry, it's fine. I have a family now, and my life is great." Laurens smirked. "Well, more or less."
"You're not cursed. We are going to have a great dinner and a great life. Because no one in this whole world gets to decide our fate except for us!" Peggy walked over to the door. "I'll see you later." She blew him a kiss and he smiled. She left the room and went down the hall. Laurens waited until he couldn't hear her footsteps anymore, then pulled out his phone.
LittleBrother🧒: Laf you there?
LittleBrother🧒: Really? Is this because of that conversation we had the other day?
Lafayette: oui.
LittleBrother🧒: whatever. Have you noticed Peggy being weird today?
Lafayette: I haven't seen her today, sorry mon ami.
LittleBrother🧒: Ok, thx.Laurens switched over to text Alexander.
Shorty: Have you seen Peggy lately?
Alexander: no, why is she missing?
Shorty: No, she just seems weird. She won't talk to me about it though. I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed besides me.
Alexander: well, you could ask Eliza. She's her sister and her roommate, so... I'd be shocked if they hadn't seen each other today.
Shorty: thx.Laurens switched contacts and texted Eliza.
Laurens🙋♂️: Third times the charm.
Eliza🙋♀️: what?
Laurens🙋♂️: nothing. Has Peggy been weird to you?
Eliza🙋♀️: I don't think I know what you mean.
Laurens🙋♂️: Peggy seems off to me. I wanted to know if you noticed it too.
Eliza🙋♀️: Huh, I guess she has. It's like hard to describe, but she has been acting strange.
Laurens🙋♀️: THANK YOU! At least I'm not crazy.
Eliza🙋♀️: do you want me to snoop?
Laurens🙋♂️: I don't think she'll tell you. I think she's hiding something.
Eliza🙋♀️: perhaps. We can go undercover tonight if you want. Try and figure it out. I feel bad for spying, but you never know what she might be hiding. I also live Mission Impossible.
Laurens🙋♂️: I can't tonight, me and Peggy are going out. Maybe tomorrow.
Eliza🙋♀️: ok.
