Friends. Right?

New Years came and went and things got pretty weird. Stephen and Peggy officially became 'a thing', not to mention that Lauren's and Kitty were hanging out alot. Like alot. But for some fricken reason, Laurens was convinced it was just as friends. Just wait kid, just wait. Kitty of course was trying to make it look cool, she didn't want to seem too desperate. It wasn't that great of a plan, but it was some how working.

"Hey!" Kitty called Laurens. "You want to meet up later?"

"Sure, when?" Laurens answered.

"Movies at 6."

"Ok," Laurens answered. "Bye."

Lafayette was in the room when he called and of course had a few questions. "Who was that?"

"Kitty."

"And what did said Kitty say?"

"She wants to see a movie later." Laurens said casually. "No big deal."

"I still don't think you should start dating yet, especially not your ex's cousin." Laf smirked.

"What?" Laurens asked. "She's not... we're not... I'm not dating her. We're just friends."

"Mhmm." Laf smirked. "If you like her that's fine, but you shouldn't lie to yourself."

"What do you mean lie to myself? Don't you think I would probably know myself better than you would?"

"You'd think so, yet here we are."

Laurens rolled his eyes. "Whatever." He walked out the door.
Today was the day he finally got his cast off. After this absolutely horrible time, it was finally coming off.

"Now this looks like a saw, but it won't cut your arm off." The doctor said.

"I know, this actually isn't the first time I've had a cast." Laurens explained.

"Oh good. Then I'll just take this off your hands. Or in this case, arm." The man laughed at his own joke. Laurens just smiled awkwardly. Must be a dad or weird uncle.

After he was done, it was time for him to meet Kitty at the movies. He figured he needed to ask her about what Laf said, but how do you ask someone that with it being weird?

"Hey." She greeted.

"Hey." He answered. He thought the best way to this was fast and swift, like ripping off a bandaid. "We're friends, right?"

Kitty looked at him confused. "Umm, depends."

"On what?"

"What you want to hear." Kitty answered. Trying to look all innocent like she hadn't planned this whole thing from the start.

"I'm not so sure anymore. Lafayette thinks that we're dating, but I didn't even know for myself what we were doing." Laurens answered.

"And he is your adopted brother right?" Kitty questioned.

"Yes." Laurens paused for a minute. "So?"

"I mean, maybe. What do you want?"

"Umm." Laurens thought for a moment. "You're good either way right?"

"Sure." Kitty fluttered her eyes for no reason. "I don't care. It might be nice to try a change of pace."

"Can I have some time to think about it?" Laurens asked.

"Sure. You ready?" Kitty said.

"I need more time than that."

"I meant the movie." Kitty stated.

"Oh right."

After the movie was over, the two went their separate ways.

Peggy and Stephen were at an amusement park, spending the day at the boardwalk. Stephen was playing a baseball game and was determined to win Peggy a panda.

"Stephen." Peggy laughed. "You already spent thirty dollars, you could buy a panda online for cheaper than that."

"Yes. But I won't let this kids game beat me." Stephen replied and put another five dollar bill on the counter.
The goal of the game was to throw three baseballs into the glove, the only catch was the catcher's mitt was angled, making it a one in ten chance of winning.

"Fine, but I draw the line at a hundred dollars. Ok?"

"Fine."

The game went on and Stephen had now spent sixty five dollars.

"Stephen, it's ok." Peggy laughed. "You don't have to feel bad, these games are almost impossible."

"One more, just let me try one more." He begged.

"Fine, you may try one more time." She rolled her eyes. "Then I want a churro."

"Deal. A churro does sound really good right now." (I make myself hungry.)

Stephen wound up the first pitch. Straight down the middle. "That's one." Then the second. It curved a little, but did the same as the first. "Wow, that's two." He wound up the last ball and let Peggy blow on it. He threw the pitch and waited as it glided through the air. It seemed like forever before it finally reached the net. Straight down the middle. "We have a winner!" The man announced as the boothe lit up with lights.

"Oh my gosh! You actually did it!" Peggy cheered.

Stephen fake gasped. "You didn't believe in me?"

"After sixty five dollars, NO." Peggy chuckled. "But I'm glad you did it in the end."

The man behind the counter gave her the panda and they both went to get a churro. Peggy found an open spot on the grass and they both sat down to enjoy their cinnamon treats.

"Hey! Come here." Peggy said and grabbed her phone. "I wanna update my story on Instagram."

She took the picture and they both continued eating their churros. (Now I really want a churro. I don't understand why I do this to myself. WHY AUTHOR? WHY!?!?!)

Laurens was chilling on his bed, he had moved back into his dorm after the new year. He saw a notification that Peggy had just updated her story. He didn't know why, but he decided to look at it. He saw the picture of her and Stephen. It made him hurt. Laurens unfollowed her and sighed. He then noticed Kitty's phone number popped up. She texted him something.

KittyTheLonely😿: Hey, I saw Peggy's story and didn't know if you had seen it or not.
ScrawnyJohnny❌💪: I just saw it actually.
