Christmas!

Well..... you can tell this is gonna be awkward.
Peggy didn't want to spend Christmas at her house knowing that her grandfather would definitely be there. She did not want to go through that again. Yet she couldn't get out in time before a certain someone ran up to her.

"Peggy! Can I talk to you for a moment?"

She immediately recognized the voice. "About what Stephen?"

"I want to ask you out. I know that you don't want to spend the day with your family after what happened with your grandfather and I wanted to know if you would like to spend it with me?" Stephen asked.

Peggy thought for a minute. She and Laurens broke up, it wouldn't be a bad thing if she said yes, would it? One of them had to move on first. Why not be the one to start?

"Umm.... I guess?"

"Wonderful! I'll get a dinner reservation for seven?"

"That would be fine."

Angelica was going to John Church's house for Christmas. It would be their only Christmas as fiance's, they wanted to make the best of it. Eliza was the only one staying home for Christmas and even then she was going to the Washingtons for dinner. With everything that had happened lately, Philip didn't mind. He still had the rest of his family there with him, including his brother's family.
Alexander, Lafayette, and Laurens were all home for the holidays. Another tragedy strikes however when Lafayette makes a sad announcement.

"Me and Angelique broke up."

"Really? What happened?" Laurens asked.

"Her father is sadly going to pass away any day now, and she's moving back home with her family to be with them." He sighed. "We thought about doing a long distance relationship, but since those never really work out we though we'd end on good terms and just be friends."

"I'm so sorry mon ami." Alexander said. "I thought you guys were good together."

"Yeah, but some things just don't work out. At least it ended with just a fizzle and not what happened with Angelica." Laf joked.

"Well... while we're piling on the bad news, Eliza just told me Peggy and Stephen are going out tonight. I mean I knew it was gonna happen eventually, but Christmas? That's just mean." Laurens added.

"Dang!!!" Both Lafayette and Alexander exclaimed.

"Yep!"

"Boys! Come on!" Washington called them from downstairs.

"Alright!" Alexander yelled down. "You should get back into dating." He said as he stood up and made his way to the door. "The best way to get over her is to fall in love again."

"You think so?"

"Are you kidding? Don't listen to this kid." Lafayette answered before Alexander could. "Take it from a guy who has done that before. The best thing to do is take some time off and just be single for awhile."

"Uh oh." Laurens mumbled knowing what was about to happen.

"You think you can give relationship advice? Which one of us is married?" Alexander smirked.

"Which one of us cheated on his wife?"

"We weren't married yet." Alexander protested.

"Why don't we all go downstairs and enjoy a nice Christmas dinner?" Laurens chimed in.

"Which one of us just broke up with their girlfriend?" Alex continued.

"Which one of us smells like over priced hairgel?"

Alexander gasped. "You take that back you French Baguette!"

"Guys!" Laurens stopped them from potentially killing each other. "It's my problem and I will deal with it." He began. "I mean, come on. It's Christmas! And I never had a good Christmas before I met you guys and now I feel like last year didn't even happen since you guys keep fighting."

"Sorry." Alexander mumbled. "I've just been really stressed out lately, that's all."

"Why?"

"I'm trying to make everything perfect again and I can't do it alone, but my stupid pride gets in the way of talking to Eliza about it. I don't want her to worry any more then she already has to." Alexander admitted.

"If you need help, you should talk to her. A good marriage needs to be balanced and you can't have that if you're constantly trying to make everything fit together on your own." Laurens stated.

"For someone with the worst backstory out of all of us, you seem pretty wise." Laf laughed.

"Being around Mom all week would do that to you." Laurens chuckled.

They all finally came downstairs to the dining room. Eliza had already arrived.

"Merry Christmas my loving, caring wife who is absolutely perfect in every way, shape, and form." Alexander greeted her with a kiss and a hug. "Shall I let you know how much I love you?"

"Go on." Eliza smirked.

"I love you with all my heart and soul, I need you to know that I would lay down my life for you if the time came for it. I will love you until the day I die. Even if you don't love me by then, I will never stop loving you." Alexander smiled and kissed her hand like a gentleman.

Eliza's heart melted. "There's the boy I fell in love with." She grinned. "Better keep it up."

Alexander smiled and went over to the dining table. He pulled out Eliza's chair and she sat down. He sat next to her.
The rest of the evening was perfect. Alexander and Eliza bonded together. Rekindling their relationship. But it wasn't until afterwards, late into the night, that things got interesting.
