HERCULES MULLIGAN was having a party. He invited the gang but was very clear that there would be alchohol since he and most of his other friends were 21 or over. But none of them actually cared, they would just go and not drink. And Eliza would keep an eye on Alexander the whole night. Not wanting History to repeat itself. But Alexander couldn't make any promises, especially since Thomas Jefferson was going to be there too. The rest just hoped and prayed for the best. Peggy was also invited too, but Stephen was not since he didn't go to their college. Laurens was happy that he would get to hang out with Peggy without Stephen making him feel uncomfortable. Alister also was excited when he found out that Jane was going to be there. If you wrote all this down on paper, it wouldn't seem like it would be a bad night, but will it be?
"Eliza! Come on let's go!" Peggy called out. "We don't want to be late!"
"I'm coming! Jeez, you're so impatient." Eliza rolled her eyes as she put a pair of earrings on.
"Yes, I'm impatient. Now come on, this is a junior and senior party. Freshman never get invited to their parties which is why we have to enjoy this one." Peggy said as she grabbed Eliza's arm and pulled her out the door.
"Are you coming?" Alister asked. Lafayette was still chilling on his bed even though there was only five minutes left before the party started.
"Oui. I just need to do this real quick." Laf said, not looking up from his phone. "On an unrelated note, do you have any ideas for a cute nickname for a girlfriend? Something not so generic like 'babe' though."
"Um, 'sugar'?"
Lafayette shook his head.
"Honey?"
"Good Lord no."
"Lovie?"
"Where did you get that one?"
"Gillian's Island." Alister laughed. (If you have seen that show, let me know, I feel like I'm the only person who still knows what that is.)
"Wow, how old are you?" Laf laughed.
"What about 'my love'? Simple, and sweet." Alister changed the subject.
"Ok, I guess that works." Lafayette said before typing something into his phone.
"Why you ask anyway?"
"Me and Adrianne officially became a thing. I wanted to change my contact for her to more than just Addy." Laf explained. "I think 'my love' is good, right?"
"Yeah sure. Now come on, this is a party. Let's go." Alister pushed.
"Fine." They both made their way over to Herc's place.
When Peggy arrived, she immediately went to find Laurens. "Hey stranger."
"Hey. What's up?" Laurens smiled.
"Oh, nothing much really. I've been studying for final exams next month because I'm scared out of my mind that I won't pass." Peggy explained.
"I'm sure you'll do fine. You worry too much, and coming from a guy who has to worry everyday that something bad is probably going to happen to him? That's saying something." Laurens joked.
"I know. I'm usually good at being optimistic, but when it comes to tests and exams and stuff, I'm a nervous wreck." Peggy admitted.
"I'm just messing with you. I'm scared out of my mind." Laurens chuckled.
"Oh, right. Of course." Peggy let out a small breath to try and relax.
"Oh, and I know you weren't at the last party. But stay away from the punch. In fact, just drink sealed soda or bottled water." Laurens snickered.
"Is that why Alexander got so hammered?" Peggy questioned.
"Among other people." Laurens mumbled.
"Whose 'other people'?" Peggy smirked.
"Irrelevant."
"No! You didn't!"
"I only had a few cups, I wasn't even like completely drunk, ok? Plus, I didn't know. Someone had spiked my drink." Laurens defended himself. "I swear I had no clue."
"How have I not heard this before?" Peggy questioned.
"I never told you because I thought you already knew. I assumed Eliza told you." Laurens laughed.
"No, she only told me what happened to Alexander." Peggy said. "So your first taste of alcohol was actually a year ago?"
"Not my first." Laurens shook his head. "Not even my second."
"What! No, you're lying." Peggy pushed his shoulder.
"No I'm not. Have you met my father?" Laurens asked.
"The funny thing is, I technically haven't. I mean... every time something happened that he was involved with, I was never there in time before he was arrested."
"That's fair."
"I'm glad we're hanging out again. Even though we didn't really end things great between each other, it's nice being friends again."
"I agree." Laurens smiled.
Alister saw Jane. He wanted to ask her out, but was still really nervous. I mean, he hadn't really dated that much before. He had one girlfriend in Junior high and one in high school, so he didn't really have too much experience. But he wanted to do something really nice for her. Lafayette noticed him just staring at her and decided to take matters into his own hands. He walked over to her and did his thing.
"Hey I'm Lafayette."
"Janei." She said with her hand out. "But my friends call me Jane."
"Are you French?" Laf asked.
"You know your names. I'm technically not since I was born in America, but my grandparents are." Jane smiled.
"Yes, well I'm French but moved here when I was ten." Laf left out a whole lot of the story.
"You fluint?"
"Oui, je parle français." He explained.
"Je vois, je parle aussi français." She answered.
"Wow, you're fluint?"
"In five different languages. My major is linguistics."
"Well, I have a friend who can't stop staring at you, and is a psychology major. I think you two would hit it off but he's a little scared of rejection." Laf explained.
"Awe. I think it's cute when a guy cares so much like that." Jane smiled.
"Good, you should go talk to him. He wants to ask you out, but you might have to make the first move." Lafayette joked.
"Ne t'inquiète pas, j'ai ça." She walked over to Alister.
"H-Hey Jane." He stuttered out nervously. "I w-wanted to know i-if..."
"Dinner and a movie next friday at 6? That would be great, thanks for asking." She gave him a little kiss on the cheek and he blushed like a tomato. Jane smiled and then walked away.
"How did it go mon ami?" Laf asked.
"I'm in love."
