Laurens had no clue what was happening at this moment. No idea that his girlfriend was currently kissing another man at that very second in time. He was just trying to help his parents get ready for dinner. No doubt in his mind that the night would be nothing but perfect. Boy was this kid wrong!

Alexander: I'll be over in a few minutes.
Shorty: K, is Eliza coming with you?
Alexander: Nah, she's still at 'dinner'.
Shorty: Why is that in quotes?
Alexander: Because they eat at like 2pm.
Shorty: Ah, ok.

Laurens put his phone away and went to the kitchen.

"What are you doing?" Washington asked. "You know what the doctor said."

"Yes, I know." Laurens sighed. The deal for him to get to leave the hospital was for him to rest. "But if I could run down several flights of stairs, with a broken leg, while my father was trying to kill me? I think I could maybe set the table with a slightly fractured rib."

"Teenagers." Washington mumbled to himself. He did remember how John had to spend last Thanksgiving. At least he was actually at home this time. "Fine, you can set the table."

Lafayette arrived a little bit later. "Bonsoir Mon ami!"

"Hey Laf." Laurens chuckled. "Where's Angelique?"

"She said she was going to drive over later. She had a zoom call with her family." Laf answered.

"Cool."

"I thought Washington was super strict about...." He was interrupted.

"I have my ways."

Alexander came barging in a moment later, making his presence known to everyone there.

Lafayette sighed. "Here we go."

"What are you doing just sitting around?" Alex asked Laf. "Let's get to work."

"Since when do you care so much about Thanksgiving? You aren't even American." Laf asked.

"I immigrated so yes, I am now American. And... I wasn't married all those years before. To a girl who was born and raised in New York." Alexander protested. "Now work, work." (Angelica!)

After a few hours of Alexander annoying Lafayette, it was finally dinner time. Everyone else had arrived, but Peggy was standing on the porch outside, pacing.

"I kissed Stephen? I kissed Stephen. I kissed Stephen!" She mumbled to herself. "What do I do? Last time I kept a secret from Laurens it almost cost me everything. But if I tell him this, it will be the end of our relationship."

She knew she would eventually have to go inside, so better make up your mind Peg. You're going in.

As she walked through the door, she saw Laurens come to greet her. "Hey Peg!" He kissed her.

Oh, did she have guilt. How the lips her boyfriend were kissing had just touched the lips of another man. It was eating her up.

"Hey." Was all she could say back to him.

"Come on, everyone is here already. I made them wait to eat until you arrived."

That was it. Peggy was dying. She gave up on life right then and there. She figured she didn't deserve him anyway. She shot him a smile and followed him into the dining room. He was right, everyone was already there, eyeing the food they were waiting on her to eat. Now she felt bad for spending all that time on the porch steps. Laurens was the sweetest man she had ever met. She knew that from the first moment she saw him. How even though he clearly didn't like talking, he sat and listened to her talk through out the whole movie. And how did she repay him? She kissed another man.

The dinner was going surprisingly well at first. Then Alexander, Lafayette, Eliza, and Laurens all got a notification. From Kitty.

"What? How did she even get my number?" Laurens laughed. The last moment he would laugh for quite some time. He looked at the message.

UnknownNumber: Thought you would want to see this. -Kitty.

He looked at the attachment. So did everyone else.

It was a video of Peggy kissing Stephen.

Peggy leaned over Laurens' shoulder.
to see what he was looking at. A million thoughts running through her head.

What if he's heartbroken? How did Kitty see us? What's gonna happen next?

"P-Peggy?" Laurens whimpered. He looked over at her, she looked back with the only face she could. The face of guilt.

"Laurens, I can explain..."

"Explain what?" Laurens stated, a tone of sadness trailed his voice. "He didn't kiss you, you kissed him."

"Laurens."

Laurens jumped up and went to the front door, he walked out onto the porch before Peggy caught up with him.

"Laurens!"

"Just leave me alone." Laurens teared up. He pushed pass her and walked down the street.

"Laurens! Laurens!" She called out. "John! John please! John!"

Soon he was out of sight.
