Mallory put on the dress Dimitri gifted her and put on her Jimmy Choo heels. She decided to straighten her hair and walked downstairs when she heard the doorbell ring.
Dimitri was having dinner with her family now since her father came back early from his trip. Before she could reach the door one of the maids opened it and let Dimitri in.
He turned to see Mallory and was starstruck. "You look so good" he smiled.
"Thank you" she hugged him. She grabbed his hand and led him to the dinning room where her parents and Bellami where just taking their seat.
They greeted him and they all took their seats. It wasn't the first time he went over for dinner. Her parents thought they made such a good couple and his parents did too.
"Where do you plan to attend?" Roman asked Dimitri about college. "Princeton or Oxford" Dimitri said.
Mallory hated when her father brought up college because for someone so organized she really had no idea of where she wanted to attend or what career she wanted to pursue. The family business was an option but as the second director of it because who would be in charged after it as boss would be Bellami.
It technically belonged to her uncle that gave up the family fortune and moved away. If it wasn't for her uncle her father would only own the inherited mansion they lived in. First born always got the business and second born got the house but Roman got both. It was fine to Mallory that she wasn't first born because she was afraid of running the family's multi billion dollar business. It wasn't something she had to think about but the thought of a business that powerful going bankrupt in her hands scared her. It was a good thing it would be in Bellami's power once she graduated.
"Oxford is an excellent choice maybe you should convince Mallory to attend there too. I can't get her to agree" Roman said looking over at Mallory who was picking her food with her fork. "What makes you think he'll convince me?" Mallory frowned.
"Love can do a lot of stuff" Roman said. "Love isn't going to make me rearrange my plans for MY future" Mallory said to her father. "So what are the plans for your future?" Roman raised his brows. He set his fork down allowing her to proceed but she couldn't think of what to say.
"I still have one year left to figure it out" Mallory answered. Roman smiled "Why can't you be a little more like Dimitri who already has it planned out"
Mallory got angry and looked at her father. It wasn't the first time her father compared her to him or the first someone ever did. Mallory thought about what Ezekiel had said to her about thinking that Dimitri would be her favorite person. "Although it's good that you two are together, he can work for both you" Roman said making Mallory get even more angry.
"Excuse me?" Mallory frowned. "If you don't know what you want to do now what makes you think you'll know next year or the following year? I'm not going to pay for college if you don't know what you want to pursue " Roman said before drinking his whine.
"Like paying for it even affects you it's like taking a quarter from your wallet. Which by the way father you don't have to worry about my tuition, I can pay it myself just like I will pay for anything that I desire. My mother has taught not to depend on a man and that includes you" Mallory raised her voice at her father before leaving the table.
"Mal" Bellam called out. "I'll go talk to her" Dimitri said setting his napkin down.
"No, I'll go" Bellami said and followed Mallory who left to the backyard. Mallory looked at her backyard from the balcony and turned when she heard Bellami's heels.
"We can share the family business" Bellami stepped besides Mallory and looked out at the pool. "You know I don't want anything to do with the business." Mallory said.
"I know, we can use our easybake ovens and sell cookies too. Open up our little cookie shop" Bellami turned to look at Mallory and smiled.
"Mine always burn" Mallory smiled. She remembered when they were little and got easybake ovens. They took over the kitchen and didn't let the cooks do anything. The cooks complained to their father so he had one of the rooms in the house made into a mini cookie shop fit for them. "You'll figure it out, you always do" Bellami hugged Mallory.
"Can I ask you something?" Mallory whispered. Bellami nodded. "What do you think people think of me?" Mallory asked.
"I don't know what they think of you or me. I think you're the greatest sister I could have ever asked for" Bellami smiled and let go of Mallory.
"What do you think about Dimitri and I?"
"You mean of you two as a couple?" Bellami raised her brow. Mallory nodded. "I think you two were meant for each other. You two seem like the perfect couple that will eventually get married. He's very protective of you and he cares so much"
"Jason asked me if I believed Dimitri and I would eventually get married in the future. I thought about it and I just couldn't see us together for that long" Mallory said. "You don't love him anymore?" Bellami asked.
"I do, at least I think I do. However I hate how people always talk about us and they always speak of him being good to me. I put in the same effort and it's always him being glorified. I just want it to be me for once"
"I don't get you" Bellami said. "it's stuff like what father just said that bothers me and Dimitri not defending me almost like he believes that's really what we're going to be like in the future. You know, him working and I staying home. I don't want that and I feel like he agrees with them" Mallory shrugged.
"So what does that mean?" Bellami asked. "I don't know" Mallory said.
