Miraculous Ladybug Oneshots

Reveal #3 ~ Cliche ~

      Marinette was very frustrated. Every year she made it a point to have very unique, exciting costumes for Halloween. She put her heart and soul into keeping up that tradition, and never wanted it to break. 

     Unfortunately for her, luck was not on her side this year (ironically, considering she was supposed to be Lady Luck). She was extremely busy between school and fighting akumas (could Hawkmoth give it a rest for ONE day?), so she had no time to make or shop for a costume. That was how she ended up on October 30 with no costume, no time to make one, and only the bottom of the barrel costumes to buy. 

     "These are all so cliché," she muttered to Alya as they flipped through costumes at the store.

     "I dunno," Alya laughed, pulling out a huge, puffy princess dress. "This one's kinda cute!"

      Marinette rolled her eyes but smiled. 

      "Hey," Alya said, the usual joking tone gone from her voice. "Look at this, Marinette."

      The other girl followed her instructions and leaned over to see what Alya was looking at. It was  a surprisingly high quality Chat Noir costume made of real leather, with a baton and ears included. Plus, it was just Marinette's size.

      "It would be so basic," she whined, already dying inside at the thought of Chat finding out that she was him for Halloween. Not that it was possible, but still. "Half the people in Paris will be Chat Noir!"

      "Don't ask for help if you don't want it," Alya stated.

      In the end, Marinette decided to buy the costume. She had no other choice. Everything else was a fairy or a cop or a pirate. At least Chat Noir was cool in some way, shape or form.

      "You look great, Marinette," Alya complimented when they met up to go trick-or-treating. They were also planning to meet Nino (And probably Adrien, Marinette's heart fluttered at the thought).

      "Thanks," Marinette replied with a genuine smile. She actually really liked her outfit after she had gotten over the disappointment of having such a boring costume and put some effort into making more authentic. Not enough people appreciated Chat Noir, anyway. 

      The girls walked and talked amiably until Marinette spotted an oddly familiar head in the crowd. Same messy blonde hair and strong shoulders.

      "Chat?" she said without thinking.

      The boy turned around, revealing a face that was, indeed, Chat. Well, more specifically, Mister Bug. His costume wasn't as good as the real thing, and the tiny pigtails he'd put in his hair were a little too adorable, but Marinette couldn't help feeling flattered that he had chosen to be her at all.

      "Ladybug?" Chat's face creased in confusion. Something wasn't right here...

      "You guys are so weird," Alya rolled her eyes. "Nice Ladybug costume, Adrien!" 

       Marinette flushed bright red as Nino complimented Alya and her in return. Chat, who had been revealed to be Adrien, had a similar expression on his face. 

      "Ready to go, Dream Team?" Alya asked teasingly. 

      "Ready," they said in union, breaking each other's gaze.

      Marinette knew that there was no way Adrien could be Chat Noir, but he had looked at her so convinced that she was Ladybug, and responded to the name Chat even though he wasn't in costume...

      "I think we need to talk..." Adrien laughed nervously.

Yes, this is indeed the most cliché reveal ever, that is the reason for the title! XD I wanted to do SOMETHING related to the kwami swap idea, but it's already been done so many times. So, I decided to roll with it and fully admit that this is not even close to an original idea. Sorry. :P
