"Thank you so much!" I heard and overly sweet voice tell someone by the door. I turned and peeked my eyes open. I turned! I had no IV in my arm! I could go home. "Hey sleepy head, your brother is at the house and dad's got dinner on the stove. Do you feel up to eating?" Food, oh how I missed you.
"A little bit, maybe." she handed me a pair of my sweat pants and a t- shirt. I slipped them on and grabed lil bean's picture.
After we signed out of the hospital, we headed to the car. Tell her. Come on, you need to. She had parked right up front, I sat nervously twidling my thumbs as mom rounded the car and got in the drivers seat. She checked her mirrors and drove straight, going down a slope and stopping at a stop sign. If you don't say something she'll bring it up later. She took a left and stopped at yet another stop sign, another left and kept going. I opened my mouth to speak. Not while she's driving you idiot! Before too long she took a right and arrived at the pharmacy. There were two cars ahead of us and we were patiently waiting our turn. Now, tell her now.
"I broke up with Mark." the words spilled out fast. She turned to me in one quick movement.
"You sure that's what you want?" No. I looked out my window and placed my forehead on the cold glass.
"Yes, I'm sure." she stared ahead as i looked back at her. My mom looked so young and I was making her into a grandmother, an old lady.
"Well I talked to dad, you start at the new high school on Monday, I still except all focus on school with the addition of keeping up with doctors appointments and saving up your money. No partying," of course, I'm not stupid. "No pep rallys," same thing as a party. "All focus on school and the baby." I nod.
"That was my plan."
"I'm not going to lie," we inched up as one of the cars pulled away. "it's going to be hard doing all of this." We were now at the window. mom handed the lady the prescription from the hospital and the lady walked away. "Even though the year is almost over and you are going to graduate, you have to remember you still have exams next week and you could get in some extracurricular activities."
"And what could that be?"
"Art? Painting?"
"I am not in any way talented like that."
"Spo-"
"No sports," I pointed down. "baby."
"Tutoring."
"I won't have any time to tutor, mom."
"Okay so maybe no more extracurricular activities, thank you" mom nodded at the lady "you have a good night!" and she drove off. "You just need to be prepared okay?"
"I know." she reached over and placed a hand on my shoulder and squeezed.
"The doctor said these can make you a bit drowsy so that means you'll have to get a ride to school from me or Sam okay?" I nodded, it's almost like they are taking my driving privileges, but I'd rather live than crash the car and die.
When we were back home people flooded out the door and hugged me. Sam, Parker, Lindi, dad. They were squeezing me too tight, us too tight. The baby.
"Too tight!" I managed. One by one they backed off and walked back inside. .My eyes bugged as Parker lifted me up as soon as I stepped through the door, and twirled me around once before setting me down.
"Hey Parker." Parker was nine years older than me, which meant he was twenty six and married to Lindi. They were both geeks and loved anything to do with comics, books, video games, you name it. They each had crazy hair which mom my hated for their wedding pictures, but I thought was cute. Lindi had dyed her blonde hair to a really pretty teal and Parker had is blond dyed lime green. Now Parkers was a burgundy and Lindi's was a dark emerald green, for Christmas. Lindi gave me a side hug and then went back to Parker's side. I was extremely surprised as Lindi's outfit, instead of her usually loud and obnoxious colored wardrobe and ripped jeans, she wore a dark gray sweater with emerald and purple plaid on the sleeves, and to go with it black leggings. She never wore leggings.
