Everything is so cold.
So, so very cold.
So cold, it hurt.
So cold, the fog that escaped your lips with every breath looked like a thick smoke. So cold, the moisture that managed to collect on your skin immediately froze, causing your limbs to stick to one another.
You knelt in the icy snow within a blizzard, unable to move due to your frostbite. You shivered endlessly, teeth chattering. Even though your death was imminent, you didn't want saving. You wanted to be left there to freeze and rot. But you didn't get to do that. A figure appeared, a lantern in their hand lighting the way. The warm light flickered as you stared into it. The figure was right in front of you, but you paid them no attention as you continued to stare into the light. The fire within danced and spit hot wax, drawing you to it. You were like a moth to a flame, reaching out to it longingly. The figure helped you to your feet, not realizing the danger he was in, nor your inane attraction to the light he held within his palm. The moment you were up, you collapsed into the character, unable to support your own weight. For a moment, you glanced up at the figure to see it was a man. They were familiar, but you couldn't quite tell how. It was as if they were an amalgamation of features. You reached out, grasping the lantern and using it to pull yourself up as the character tried to help you. Using your other hand, you reached through the lantern they held, your hand outstretched towards the bright hot fire. You closed your palm around the flame tightly, grasping it as an explosion of a bright yellow glow emanated from within your palm. You felt renewed. Reborn. It was as if something had been awakened within you. The light died down to a quiet glow within your soul, shining from within you onto your surroundings. You searched for the person who had helped you, only to find they were gone. The storm had died down to a light snowfall, and within your small bubble the snow melted. The fog that had once came from your breath was now replaced by warm, white smoke that curled around you and seeped from your feet with every step you took.
You wandered the snowy biome, finding that you were in an open forest of pine. It was dark out, so the only reason you were able to see was because of the dim sunlight that emanated from your body. As you walked, you found a small cabin, which was lit with little lights.
More lanterns.
More light.
More power.
You trudged towards the cabin, touching the lanterns lit along the porch and collecting their glow. Your footsteps now gave the wood floor a light charring, and your very figure making contact with the frosty air caused smoke to rise from your skin. You opened the door with a delicate push, leaving a black handprint burned into the wood's flesh. You were met with a blood soaked room, crimson splattered across every surface of the cabin. You felt nothing seeing this. You simply turned to the cabin's fireplace, which was lit with a large and happily crackling fire, calling you towards it. You dreamily trailed towards it, both arms outstretched towards the heat. You held onto it, the blaze being consumed by your hunger that matched a sun's. Once you were finished, the cabin was dark, only lit by you, whose light was even greater than the initial fire that had been set within the fireplace. The blood evaporated, the bottoms of your feet remaining untouched by the scarlet splattering. Burning hot waves of heat emanated from your bodice, setting the ground on fire as you moved back outside, and into the storm. A figure stood in front of you in the snow. The same one that had held you the fire time. The one that had given you their light.
They were covered in blood.
Blood that was not their own.
You approached them, your eyes glowing white with power as you gripped onto their sleeve, a loud hiss sounding with smoke rising from your hand as you did so. You were burning the character's arm off, and they did not care. You squeezed harder, bringing your other hand up to wring around their neck. You wrung their neck with both hands, squeezing harder and harder as their flesh and blood and bone hissed in retaliation. You pushed into them, causing them to fall onto their back as you knelt over them, squeezing their throat harder and harder. But there was still no reaction out of the figure. You scowled.
