At the early hours of 4:00 am, you awoke to loud knocking at your door. "Rise and shine, cupcake! It's time to go!" You immediately sat up, adrenaline rushing through your veins as your anxiety for the days to come finally caught up with you. Hopping out of bed, you began to sweat. "U-Uh- just gimme a sec Soldier! I need to get dressed!" There was a grunt from the other side of the door, so you could presume that Soldier meant that as an "Ok." The sun wasn't even out, so the light that usually shone from the small window in your bathroom was still completely dark. To counteract this, you turned on your bathroom light, going over to the outfit you had picked the day before, and began to change into it. Rushing around your room, you did your morning routine and then immediately afterward packed your toiletries into a bag, stuffing them into your backpack. Pulling your hair back, you pulled on your socks and shoes and slung your backpack over your shoulder, heading for the door. You swung it open, a thin layer of sweat already coating your brows due to your rush of anxiety. Huffing a little, you looked up at Soldier to see him glancing back at you, surprised. "What?" You rose a brow at him, smiling through your fear. "You pack light." He leaned around, inspecting you, and looking into your room. "And quickly." He looked you up and down, a hint of suspicion in his eyes and voice. You laughed uncomfortably. "L-Let's just go." You walked ahead of him, Soldier still eying you skeptically. What the hell was that about? I dunno, but I am pretty sure it's because of something really stupid. You shook off his gaze, following your watch's GPS out the exit you had gone out the day before, heading for the camper as Soldier trailed from behind. The sky was still dark, the sun still not having risen and the only thing lighting up the area were the fluorescent lights coming from bulbs that were located around the base, along with the camper-van itself.

Upon seeing Scout outside of the van, you waved him down, jogging over. "Hey, Scout! Hope I'm not late." You stopped in front of him, chuckling a little as you slowed to a stop in front of him. "Nah, you're fine. I-" Scout was cut off by Sniper peeking out from within the camper, eyeing your luggage when his brows raised out of surprise. "Roo, you sure did pack lightly. You sure that'll be enough?" You nodded. "Yep! I know how to pack light- I did have to live with only the necessities for years so..." You laughed it off, jokingly implying your homelessness. Sniper and Scout chuckled as well, but with a bit more of an awkward undertone. When Soldier overheard you, something seemed to click in his head, as he went, "You were homeless?" You and the two other sane mercenaries present froze, as you stood there not exactly knowing what to say. But you couldn't help but laugh a little at Soldier bluntness. Turning to face him, you gave a small and awkward nod. "Y-Yep! Hehe, that's why..." You tried to laugh it off, the sound feeling weird coming out of your mouth. There was a moment of silence when Soldier finally yelled, "I'm gonna go pick up the weapons!" with a wide grin, running off to another area of the base. You pursed your lips, looking back at the remaining two mercenaries. "So... Uh- Should I-?" You gestured to your bag, gesturing to it as a means of asking if you should put it in the camper. "Oh! Yeah, here." Sniper held out his hand, gesturing for the bag as you handed it over to him. He took the bag, carrying it with him further into the van.

"So... You were homeless." Scout said this in an awkward but joking tone, trying to lessen the discomfort in the atmosphere. You rose a brow. "Scout, the first time we met you got mad at me because I stole your wallet." Scout chuckled. "Oh yeah, I remember that. Can't believe I almost forgot." You turned your head so that you would be giving him the side-eye. "If you forgot, could you forgive?" Scout smirked, looking off to the side and tilting his head back and forth. "Ehhhhhh, I dunno pipsqueak, don't think I can forgive ya for that." You scoffed, punching him in the shoulder for calling you pipsqueak. Both of you laughed, Scout rubbing his arm where you had hit him. "Nah, I'm just messing with ya, I forgave ya awhile back." You let out a small relieved smile. "Oh, yeah, you did didn't you? I was so awkward, I kept stuttering!" You laughed. It was Scout's turn to raise a brow. "Don't you still stutter?" You lightly rammed into him. "I've gotten better!" You both laughed, Scout moving his arm up to bring you into a noogie. "H-Hey!" You giggled, Scout laughing as well as you tried to escape. If you had turned around, you would have seen Sniper watching the two of you duke it out like siblings with a blissful smile. Soldier came into the area with a crate, ending the moment. "Sniper, where should I put this?" Sniper rolled his eyes, his smile gone as he went over to the mercenary. "We don't need that much, Soldier. Put it down, lemme handle it." As Soldier and Sniper worked out the weapons issue, you had escaped Scout's grasp and were now tired out, going to sit down on the camper-vans ledge. As you sat, more sweat seemed to form, and without you realizing it, you had gone a little pale. Your breathing was a little ragged as your heart pumped heavily, but you did well when maintaining a calm exterior. Okay Y/N, it's okay, breathe. You're not gonna die. Probably, at least. Wait- no! You're not gonna die! You'll be fine! Yeah, I'll be fine. Phew, my goodness this is taking a toll, heheh. The funny thing is, I'm anxious even though I really do want to go. Isn't that stupid? A few moments passed as you dazed off, reality blurring around you as your mind wandered away from your physical self.
