Since that night, Amara had seen Erik a few more times over the course of the past three weeks and the two of them had gone out together as friends to cafes, museums and even played a couple of rounds of pool while at a karaoke bar one night; Erik had dazzled her away with a breathtaking rendition of 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' receiving a standing ovation for the performance from the crowd. Admittedly, the young woman hadn't had this much fun for a long time now and she loved how she never felt judged or pressured to be anyone but herself around Erik. With each passing week, she could tell that she was falling more and more in love with him, to which she hoped that he was now feeling the same way about her. In this man, she knew that she had a best friend and whenever she needed a little extra help with an assignment, be it proofreading her essays or tutoring her in a problem area-there were times that she would assist him in this way as well and they would quite often create little flash quizzes for one another. Those quizzes would result in the other buying a sweet reward if the answers were satisfactory, a little extra encouragement to excel in their field of study.
A good month after they had first met, Erik could no longer fight back his feelings that he had developed for Amara and so he asked her to meet him at the park they walked to the night of his recital, where he had carefully placed some rose petals to spell out the words 'Amara, will you go steady with me?' It was a thoughtful, romantic gesture and as Amara turned herself around in search of him, there he was behind her with a single red rose in his right hand, whilst down on one knee with a small smile on his. "So, what do you say my lovely rose," he queried, looking adoringly into her eyes. He had offered the rose to her and reached his free hand out to her, awaiting her answer. Damn, this one was rather charming and oh so irresistible. "Erik, I would love nothing more than to be your girlfriend," she smiled, accepting the rose from him. She took his hand and from there, he rose up to his feet pulling her close to his body. The pair gazed into one another's eyes and they had almost kissed, but Amara backed away a little. She felt hesitant to rush things like that and she explained in as little detail as possible that she wasn't ready for this just yet, to which Erik was nothing but understanding, assuring her that he would be patient for as long as she needed with that and even more intimate things that lovers do.
Amara was so over the moon about this new found love that she just had to share the news with her loved ones back home, calling her father to tell him what had happened the very moment she arrived back at her dorm. She told him about how they started out as friends and that the love just blossomed from there, the way he asked her out and how respectful he was being of her wishes to refrain from any form of intimacy until she felt ready for it. You of course, adored that this man was treating your daughter like a princess but Loki, wasn't fully sure about Erik just yet; especially after what Jax had done to her, he wasn't about to trust anyone with his daughter until they proved themselves that they deserved that very foundation of trust. It took some convincing on your part to get Loki to calm down a bit as he had wanted to teleport himself over to her dorm to talk to Amara, to go check out Erik for himself and get a good sense of what kind of person he was. You had assured him that perhaps this time, things would be different, that he just had to trust that Amara knew what she was getting involved with this time. Besides, she seemed to be really happy and when the two of you had talked to her via FaceTime, her eyes lit up more than they ever had been when she was with Jax. This wasn't just some kind of young puppy love, it appeared to be very real and you both needed to accept that your little girl was all grown up now. A concept that was much more difficult for Loki to let go of than it were for you.
