y'all seemed to enjoy the simon povs! so here is another :)

I'd let them poke needles into my arm for a good half an hour before they told me they were finally done testing. They had said the results should take around two to three hours, and that had been two hours ago.

I was with Talia, again, waiting by her bedside. I had done everything I personally could for her, and now it was a waiting game. There was nothing else I could do, and if I wasn't a match it was going to be a long road ahead for her.

If we were to be a match, I was going to keep it as an anonymous donor. Or, at least it would be anonymous from her. I didn't want our dynamic to change, and I was scared that her finding out about me willing to donate an organ would do just that.

Her parents had been in and out. We were on much better terms now, I had talked to her Dad a few times now, and myself and her Mum had shared a few smiles here and there.

Talia was a little too out of it to realise but I knew she'd be happy when all of this was over.

There was a knock on the door, and all three of us were alerted from whatever we were doing. Her Mum put down her sewing, her Dad put down his newspaper, all of our eyes centred on the doctor that was now walking in the room. I wasn't able to read his face. I didn't know if the news was good or bad and it was killing me.

"Well? Is he a match or not?" I heard her Dad speak from behind me. It seemed like I wasn't the only inpatient one here.

I looked over at Talia, seeing if she was awake or not but she appeared to be asleep again. It wasn't unusual. I turned back around and looked at the doctor just as he started to speak.

"Mr Minter, you are indeed a match, and will be able to donate a kidney if that is still something you would like to -"

"Yes. Yes I would like to do it, and I would like to do it as soon as possible," I tell him. There were no words to describe how relieved I was feeling right now. She was going to be okay.

"We'd also like to do it as soon as possible. Someone will be in here to take you to a different room to get prepped, with luck she should have a new functioning kidney before the sun sets tonight," he explained, leaving the room immediately after.

I turned back around to see her parents looking at me. It was her Mum that moved first, walking over and bringing me in for a hug.

"Thank you so much," she whispered, on her tiptoes to reach my height. "You have no idea how much this means to us. I know we've had our differences, but you're one of the family now."

She had no idea how much her words meant to me. "Thank you, but I have one favour, I'm actually planning on not telling her it was me. I'm going to sign the form for an anonymous donor, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell her," I said nervously.

"That's not a problem at all. If you need any help with anyone, and I mean that, you tell us and we'll do our best, alright?" She said, looking at me in the eyes.

"After the surgery, I'll be in recovery a little too. Can you - you know, cover for me? I'm guessing she'll expect me there, but I won't be able to for a day or two, I just -"

"Don't even worry about it Simon. We've got this," her Mum said softly. "We'll leave you two for a little while, we'll be in the cafeteria," she said, and they both left, leaving me and Talia alone again.

"Hey you," I whispered, walking over to her side. I noticed her eyes flutter open briefly, she could hear me.

"The doctor is coming back in a little while, they've got some good news," I whisper, grabbing hold of her hand and giving it a squeeze.

"They've found an anonymous donor. You're getting a new kidney, you're going to be alright," I say to her, and I see her eyes widen a little. She definitely heard that.

"I know right! You've done so well, the last week. I know it's been hard, but I'm so proud of you...and after tonight you won't be in this pain anymore, how good is that?" I continue, rubbing soft traces into her palm. Something I did if she needed calming down or reassuring.

I heard her murmur a soft response, I wasn't quite sure what she said but it sounded like she said good.

"I love you," I whispered.

I heard a noise from behind me, it was another nurse.

"We need to start prepping her, would you mind stepping out of the room?"

"Goodbye, Tee. I'll see you after surgery. Love you," I whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead, knowing this would be the last time I would see her for a couple of days, but I felt fine because she was going to feel so much better, so it was completely worth it.

I left the room, and to my surprise there was another nurse outside waiting for me.

"I was told you wanted to donate anonymously, so we didn't mention it in there. If you'd like to follow me, I'll take you to your room where we can start prepping you for surgery, alright?"

I nodded my head, following her down the hall and through a couple of doors before we reached another room. She left me to get changed into the hospital gown by myself, before I climbed into the bed. It wasn't the most comfortable thing I'd ever slept on, but I wasn't really in a position to complain right now.

The doctor from earlier came back in, now completely dressed in scrubs, the white jacket was gone.

"I'm going to ask one more time, you're definitely okay going ahead with this?"

"Absolutely. No doubt about it. I'll sign whatever needs signing, I'll do whatever. I'm ready," I confirmed.

"Alright then. I'll bring in the anonymity papers, and then you're all ready to be brought into the operating room. The recovery will be two days, and after that you'll just have a bandage on your scar, which you'll have to get checked two weeks in the future."

"That sounds perfect," I agreed, watching as he left to get the papers. I decide it's probably wise if I tell one person I'm doing this so they know if anything happens to go south, which they shouldn't. In my mind there's only one right person to tell.

Usually I'd tell Sophie but she's all the way in Manchester, in the middle of a record deal, so I text JJ. He's the closest person I have to family here, and he's the one person I know I can trust with this.

I formulate the text, not waiting for a response before I shut it off, sliding it into my bag that is hidden underneath the chair. The doctor comes back in with some papers and a pen, and I sign everything I need to.

There are two nurses waiting outside my door that come in when the doctor tells them to, and before I know it I'm being wheeled away, presumably to the operating room.

"Alright Simon, we're going to place you under anaesthesia, can you count backwards from ten for us?" He asked, and already my vision was becoming slightly hazy.

"Ten, nine, eight, s - seven, si - six, fi -"

I didn't even have time to finish my word before everything went black.
