December 20th 1996
It had been another month
A whole month since Draco and I kissed in the bathroom. He had barely even talked to me since I saw him messing with the large cabinet in the Room of Requirement. It was nearly Christmas now.. and Slug horn was having a Christmas party for everyone apart of the Slug club and I had been scrambling since the beginning of the month trying to figure out what to wear to the party. I decided to go with the same green dress that I had worn to the halloween party the year before which still fit me pretty nicely.
I was standing in the common room looking at my dressed reflection in the mirror. I breathed a heavy sigh before second guessing my decision to attend the party.
I clung to a small box in my hand holding it tightly. I closed my eyes taking in another breath of air but when I opened them there was a figure standing to my far right. I took a second glance and saw Draco standing with his arms crossed leaning against the wall starring at me. I turned around looking at him questionably.
"Hi.." I said quietly
"Hey" He said taking a step towards me. I closed my eyes tightly as I held out the small box towards him. He hesitated a second before graabbing it from my hand gently. I watched as his breath quickened as he saw what was inside.
A silver rose charm.
He looked at me before I reached into the small pocket of my dress pulling out an identical charm. He looked back down at the box before slowly pulling the charm out and squeezing it in his hand.
"Look" I held it out again so he could see. I took my finger and tapped the charm two times and his charm glowed a green color. He let out a small smile before he tapped the charm allowing my charm to glow. "So we can.. always be there for each other no matter what happens ok?" I said looking up into his grey eyes.
"Ok.." He said tucking it into his pocket before kissing me on the cheek and stepping away.
Hey" I called out as he started to walk away. "Um.. Slughorns having a party tongiht and.. im allowed to invite someone.. you wanna come?"
"I wouldn't be welcome" He said looking down "I gotta go" Then he was gone. Disappeared into the corridor
The party was actually quite nice.. there were drinks and music and everyone seemed to be having a good time, I mainly hung out with Ginny who felt extremly lonely since her sudden breakup with Dean Thomas.
"I thought dating Dean would help Harry notice me but it doesn't seem like anything has changed" Ginny said quietly as she glanced over at Harry who was standing in front of Snape
"Oh Ginny i'm sure he'll come around" I said getting a cup of punch and handing it to her.
"Thanks.." She said gratefully
"Let go of me you squib!" We heard someone yell from behind one of the curtains. The whole party stopped as we glanced in the direction of the yell.
Finch dragged draco in by his collar into the crowd of party goers.
"Now, now what is the meaning of this" Slughorn asks looking across the room at Filch and Draco who was now looking at me apologetically.
"Caught this one sneaking around in an a upstairs corridor, he claims he was invited to your party" Filch said as everyone looked at Draco.
"Fine, fine I was gate crashing! You happy?" Draco said angrily trying to break away from Filch's grip when Snape quickly walked over to them followed by Harry who was walking towards Ginny and I .
"Hey guys" Harry whispered as the three of us continued to watch the scene unfold.
"I will escort Mr Malfoy out" Snape said. Draco glanced at me one more time before harshly ripping himself from Filch grip
"Sure thing..Proffesor" Draco scoffed before Snape led him put of the room. As we watched the two exit Harry lightly elbowed me in the arm tilting his head towards the door motioning for me to follow him.
"Bye Ginny" I whispered as Harry led me out "Have a good night"
"You too" She replied
"Harry where are we going?" I asked as he and I walked down the deserted corridor.
"Shh" He hissed at me "I think they went this way"
"Who?" I questioned but oaused as i realized. We were following Draco and Snape.
"Maybe I did hex that Bell girl maybe I didn't.. what's it to you?" We heard someone say loudly from around the corner. I gasped quietly before Harry grabbed my arm pulling me to the wall.
"I swore to protect you" Snape said through his teeth "I made the unbreakable vow"
"I don't need protection!" Draco responded angrily
"Out of all others, me.. I won't fail him" My eyes opened widly as I glanced over at Harry who was now breathing heavily
"Let me assist you" Snape pleaded quietly
"No!" Draco yelled "I was chosen.. This is my moment" Then we heard footsteps approaching the corner Harry and I were hiding behind. Harry grabbed my hand before leading me down the corridor at almost a run
I was chosen were the words that just kept replaying in my mind as Harry and I escaped down the corridor.
