"What?" I whispered standing up."Haley.. let me explain" My Father said raising his voice.
"How could you. Not be- I thought- my whole life" I stuttered "I thought it wasn't true"
"Haley sit down and let me explain" My father said calmly as I sat down.
"You weren't supposed to know this.. at least until this was all over" He said
"Until what was all over?" I questioned but my father just continued to speak
"When you were a baby.. You weren't born into the Silvering family... you- you were born into the Halfheart family" My father said. My eyebrows furrowed as I tried to figure out where I had heard that name before. My heart completely shattered when I remembered.
"You- You mean Ivior Halfheart?" I questioned as tears starting to stream down my face "The- d-death eater?" My father looked down and suddenly everything made since. Why everyone was so Timid of me being around the Order Of the Phoenix, Why I was in Slytherin, Why Umbridge had said all those things to me about my own kind everything now made since. "Who knew.. who knew this?" I said looking down at my lap
"Haley.."
"No! Who knew!" I yelled."I- I don't know" My father stuttered "But you can't tell anyone.. nobody can know" I looked down again suddenly craving answers.
"How did I end up here.. With you and mom?" I questioned
"Haley I don't think this is the right time" My father said
"Tell me" I prompted "You've already been lying to me for sixteen years" My father sighed before looking me with a serious expression on his face.
"Ivior is known to be the closest follower to Vol- you know who, one day word got out to the Wizarding world that he had a child with a woman named Martha Woodberry.. who- um died giving birth.. And a little over a year later Ivior was caught leading a group of death eaters to an attack at Hogwarts, they never made it there.. because Dumbledore caught them.. Him being the person he was offered Ivior a deal. Dumbledore told them that he wouldn't turn them if he gave you to him. Dumbledore didn't want ny witch or wizard growing up supporting You know who.. so he- um gave you up in exchange for his freedom." My eyes heated up as my father continued the story. "Dumbledore came to your mom and I in the night, we couldn't have children of our own.. so you were truly a gift to us.. we didn't care about who your parents were.. we just loved you so much.." My father said as he started to tear up "Your mother was so happy" he whispered
"I- I can't do this" I said standing up running back down to the basement where the Floo Network was, my father was following close behind me. I was about to step back into the Floo Network when my father grabbed my arm.
"I know this is a lot to take in, Haley but you need to listen to me..Dark things are coming, you can't tell anyone about this conversation" I pulled my arm away from him.
"I'm going back to the burrow" The last thing I saw was my fathers shocked expression before I disappeared into the flames.
It was dark in the burrow when I finally got back indicating that everyone had already gone upstairs for the night. I made my way through the down stairs when I heard a noise. I turned in the opposite direction towards the noise to see a large white owl sitting it a cage. "Hedwig?" I questioned as she hooted in response. With a smile on my face for the first time in a while I quickly made it over to the staircase when Molly peaked her head out from the top floor.
"Haley dear.. you're back" She said."Yeah.. Is it ok if I stay here for.. a while?" I asked
"why of course.. anything you need" She responded with a smile.
"When did Harry get here?" I questioned glancing back at Hedwig and Harry's trunk
.
"Harry who?" Molly asked me"Harry Potter!" I responded almost letting out a giggle.
"Did someone just say Harry?" Ron said peeking his head out.
"Oh please I would know if Harry Potter was in my house.." Molly said as she started making her way down the stairs.
"Is that an owl I heard" Hermione said as her head appeared above me with Ginny walking out of the room groggily.
"Hermione!" I said with a smile
"Hello Haley" She responded. Once Molly reached the first floor we heard the front door open. I quickly ran ahead of Molly to see Harry standing shyly in the doorway.
"Harry!" I said excitedly I threw my arms around his shoulders.
"Oh Harry dear, what a wonderful surprise" Molly said appearing behind me with Ginny, Hermione, and Ron close behind her each taking their turns greeting Harry.
"So when did you two get here?" Harry asked as the four of us sat down in Ron's bedroom after Harry got settled in."I've been here since June.." I said quietly "I didn't want to be at home after.."
"I just got here a few hours ago" Hermione said thankful changing the subject "Although for awhile I didn't know if I was coming at all"
"Why?" Harry asked
"Mum lost it last week.." Ron started to say looking back to Harry "She said That Ginny and I had no business going back to Hogwarts" I looked down remembering the week before when I was attempting to eat dinner with everyone else for the first time when Molly told Mr. Weasley that she wasn't sure if Ginny or Ron should go back to Hogwarts.. that it was to dangerous.
"Even my parents know something bad is happening" Hermione said "And they're muggles"
"It took a few days but mum finally came around" Ron said
"Common.. this is Hogwarts.. Dumbledore what could be safer?" Harry asked
"I've heard a lot of things recently.." I said timidly "People are saying hat Dumbledore is getting a little old"
"I've heard that too" Hermione added
"Rubbish!" Harry said loudly "He's only like-"
"One hundred and fifty.. give or take a few" Ron said with a smile creeping onto his face as all four of us broke into laughter, we continued to talk and joke around late into the night and for a couple hours things seemed ok.. but I think we all knew deep down that things wouldn't be for long.
