Haley's POV
"Draco" I whispered as he pointed his wand at me, a tear made it's way down my face as I tried to process what was happening. There was not only a conflict raging outside.. there was a conflict inside of Draco.. one far bigger than I could imagine... "Draco please..You have a choice.. don't do this." Draco started to cry.
"You don't understand... He'll torture you- he'll.. he'll kill everyone I- I have to" Draco whispered
"Draco.. you have a choice.. no blood needs to be on your hands.. you can make it out of this war.. we all can" Harry started to plead with Draco
"What do you know Potter" Draco lashed out pointing his wand at Harry making me flinch "You have people who would die for you.. hundreds from people.. i don't have anyone"
"Yes you do Draco.. You have me always" I said. Draco was in a bad place, it was made out to him that his mother and I were going to die today.. no matter what he did. "Draco.. he's lying to you... he wants you to be afraid"
"Do it Draco.. don't be a prat.. Kill her!" Mack demanded
"Ava- avad" Draco struggled.. his wand shaking harshly in his hand.. "I can't"
"You're a coward" Mack said before she pointed her wand at me "Avada Kedavera" She yelled..
"No!" Draco screamed. I ducked covering my face
"Stupyfy!" It was the sound of Hermione's voice. I heard a scream as Mack flew back from the power of the spell
"bloody hell" Blaise yelled as he started to shoot spells but it was no use Hermione had already driven the two of them away. i was on the ground from the force of the curses flying by. I was covering my ears as the noise was just to much. I felt him touch my shoulder but I shook him away.. I knew he was in a bad spot and he would never hurt me.. but it was clear what side he was on in this war.. and it wasn't mine.
"Get out of here you bloody gargoyle" It was Ron.. I felt Draco get up as Ron chased him away.. throwing curses at him. I was crying into my hands as Hermione put her hands on my shoulder before I slowly stood up from the ground
"Are you alright?" She asked
"Hermione.. the diadem flew up here" Harry said as he started to climb a pile of objects. to retrieve the diadem. I stayed below while they climbed to keep a lookout.. Ron had disappeared with Draco and hadn't come back... i hoped that he was ok. But that was when I heard a scream.. Ron was running back towards us.
"Blaise set the bloody place on fire!" He screamed.. there was a large glow coming from behind Ron.. the room of Requirement was on fire.
"Guys.. Guys!" I yelled to Harry and Hermione who were only just now descending from up top the pile of random objects with the diadem. We ran from the fire that was only just behind us as fast as we could. For a second I was scared that we were going to be engulfed in the flames. We ran for a few minutes until we discovered four brooms resting on one of the bookshelves.
"Get on!" Harry yelled "Follow me" We mounted the brooms before we took off above the flames. But with every second the flames were growing larger and larger.. almost to the height of our brooms. We were flying towards the enterence until I saw something... three figures climbing up one of the taller piles of objects Draco, Blaise, and Mack.
"We have to go back for them" I yelled
"Are you mad?" Ron yelled back
"No.. we have to" I begged " Harry Please!"
"Fine" Harry said "But we have to make it quick. We circled around to meet the three of the. Hermione got Blaise who was on top of the pile and I went to get Draco who was holding on to Mack who was hanging suspended above the fire
"Ron get Mack" I screamed as I grabbed Draco's hand.. He looked up at me with so much panic... his grey eyes glowing red from the burning glow of the flames below. I saw it in her eyes as Mack started to slip from Draco's sweaty hands
"No..No.. Don't let me go" She yelled "Please" Ron was so close tp getting her but it was to late. Her hand slowly slipped.. I watched as my once friend.. and the person who had tried tp kill me just minutes before was suspended into the flames.. burning alive. Draco squirmed but managed to hoist himself on my broom as we sped as quickly as we could out of the room making it out just as the flames overcame the room of Requirement.
