Congratulations
Monday came and it is another week of a hell in school. I don’t bother anymore.
“Zen, the results are out.
I don’t bother saying a word and I just nodded.
“Really? You passed?” He asked again.
Goodness! Does he want some confirmation? Gusto niya ba tingnan email ko?
Instead of bursting out, I just nodded again.
“Bakit hindi mo sinabi? Napaka-gandang balita ’yan Zen!” He exclaimed.
I know right? It’s a very big and important news for me. And I tried telling you all but I don’t have the chance to.
“Sasabihin ko sana kahapon, kaso…”
“Kaso ano?”
“Unavailable kayong lahat. Hindi ko alam bakit.” Mapait kong sabi sa kaniya.
“I forgot! We went to Circa 1900 yesterday. You know… hangout tapos chill. We didn’t bother letting you come with us kasi nandito si Zack tapos Ate Zia is in the hospital, sorry,” he explained.
“Okay lang.” Maiksing sagot ko.
But actually, I’m not. So what kung nandito si Zack? Pero as usual, binalewala ko. The youngest Montreal has been left behind, huh? How funny. I never been an outcast, just now.
The day went on pero wala masyado kaming interactions ng mga kaibigan ko. Classes’ hours are over kaya’t nagsi-uwian na ang lahat. Pinili kong magpahuli sa paglabas sa school gate patungo sa parking lot. I just want to be alone for me to find peace on my own.
It felt so quiet dahil wala sila lagi rito.
I shout loudly when I suddenly heard a popping sound!
“Congratulations Zen!” Sabay nilang sigaw sa aking mukha. Natawa tuloy ako.
Issa is holding a fondant cake with a "Future First Lieutenant" written on it. This felt surreal!
“Our plan worked!”
“What plan?”
“And?”
“And, we planned to never communicate with you yesterday.
