Isang mainit na araw at hindi ko pa rin makalimutan ang sinabi ni Zack kagabi. His words are running into my system and into my head and mind. Was he drunk-talking? I hope so. But there’s emotion on it.

Ayan ka naman, so what if there’s emotion on every word he said? Labas na ako roon, hindi ko naman siya inutusan na sabihan ako no’n. I said in the back of my mind. After all, what he said last night isn’t permanent to his system. Baka nga nasabi niya lang ’yon dahil lasing siya.
I came back on my reverie when Lee, my right hand, tapped my shoulder to get my attention.

“Nakuha ko na ang schedule ni Mr. San Jose for the whole week para hindi na tayo tanong nang tanong araw-araw,” he informed me.

Yeah, it’s another day and I’ll be rendering my service to Zack for the whole week. I let out a sigh realizing that I will be there behind him, following wherever he goes.

According to Lee, may pupuntahan si Zack na dry run for the Fashion Week na magaganap sa susunod na linggo.
You’ve succeeded Zack. And I know that he is happy now.

Ngumiti ako ng pilit habang inaalala na ayaw na ayaw niyang malayo sa akin noon kahit pa tawag nang pangarap niya ang nakasalalay. But then, life has been interlaced seven years ago. He forgot about me. Well, I was the option before.

Tumawa ako nang maalala na pangalawa lang pala ako, he left me and went back to U.S to be with the love of his life. Gusto ko maiyak na naman but it’s over. I’m over it already. Hindi ko lang maiwasan na maalala at masaktan. I felt and excruciating pain after he left me. Hindi iyon biro.

I stopped on reminiscing when I saw Zack walking graciously in the lobby. Nandito lamang kami sa labas at naghihintay sa paglabas niya.  I can’t help but to praise his features. Those hazel eyes, think brows, and naturally curled lashes. Those pointed nose and jaws that are so attractive. His lips…
Lee opened the passenger seat at doon niya pinasakay si Zack. After he closed it, he then opened the shotgun door seat for me.

“Thanks.” I uttered towards Lee.

“Always welcome, Lieutenant.” Sagot niya rin bago siya naglakad patungo sa kabilang pinto.

Lee is the one driving. Basta kami ang magkasama hindi niya talaga ako hahayaan na magmaneho. He is a gentleman.

The ride has been quiet and long. Only Zack and Lee knows where to go at hindi na rin ako nag-abala na magtanong. It’s quiet until I heard my phone rang and I almost flinch because of the shock.

“I’ll take this call.”

I don’t have a choice but to answer it with someone around me. I’m not comfortable having a call with someone especially if it’s confidential when someone is around me.

I cleared my throat before answering it. “Zen, speaking.” I said through the line.

“Good morning, Gov. May I ask when you will be here in Cebu. There’s a lot of papers for you to sign.” Napahilot ako sa aking noo sa narinig ko.

“I’ll try to be there, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Not today, I still have work. Please do the rest for me, Kent. I’m hoping when I’ll get there those things you said, sana iyon na lang ang gagawin ko. You can do that right?” I said.
