I managed to screw the metal plate back into place as Master Kenobi brought the Twilight - Anakin's ship - down towards the docking bay.
"I shouldn't have let you talk me into borrowing a ship from Anakin." Obi wan struggled to keep the ship steady.
I banged on a panel and the electronics lit up again. "Well, who else would help us? We're not supposed to be here, remember?"
We managed to land without crashing and Obi wan went out to meet the inspection crew that was sure to come.
I stood just out of sight by the ramp.
Obi wan returned with a pair of Mandalorians in tow, both wore black and red armor.
I grabbed one of them from behind and threw him against the wall. Obi wan did the same with the other and we put on their armor. As we walked out of the ship, another Mandalorian approached us.
"You." He pointed at me. "You're needed in the square."
I looked at Obi wan, who nodded. I returned the gesture and followed the Mandalorian into the city.
————
The city was elegant and precise. The buildings were composed of metal with vast windows.
In the square, three Mandalorians and I had to quell a threat from radical citizens. There were those who opposed the new rule of Mandalore. One of my companions pulled out a beeping communicator. "There's trouble on the landing bay. Come on!"
Our group jettisoned into the air with our jet packs and made for the outer dome. We arrived just in time to watch the Twilight crash back into the dock.
Out of the smoke, Maul strode towards Obi wan.
My heart skipped a beat. We were supposed to be dealing with the Deathwatch, not Maul and his beast of a brother.
I understood now why former members of Deathwatch had been rising up. Mandalorians didn't take kindly to outsiders, especially on their throne.
Maul lifted Obi wan from the ground with the Force.
I had to do something, but not here. There were too many people. I'd be crushed within moments. Instead, I followed Maul back into the city, to the palace.
Obi wan stood between two guards and Satine knelt beside Maul himself. I stood near the wall, waiting for my opportunity to strike.
"You should've chosen the Dark Side Kenobi." Maul taunted. "It has much power."
"And those who oppose it are more powerful than you could ever know."
Maul growled in anger.
"You can kill me, but you can never destroy me." Obi wan met Maul's gaze with defiance.
Maul smirked. "I never planned to kill you, but I will make you suffer as I did." He lifted his hand and Satine rose from the floor, struggling to breathe.
I looked from Satine to Obi wan to Maul.
In one fluid movement, Maul ignited the Dark Saber, pulled Satine forward, and drove the blade through her.
My heart stopped and everything seemed to move in slow motion. Obi wan caught Satine as her body collapsed; Maul withdrew his blade, his eyes revealing his utter joy at the scene before him; and I drew my lightsabers.
