"What are you doing down here?" A young man in a jumpsuit trotted over to meet me. He had loosely mussed red hair and scattered freckles across his nose and cheeks, which made him look even younger.
I crossed my arms and paused so he could catch up. "You know I never miss a pick up."
He stood beside me and raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, but why? You don't need to do this."
I shrugged. "Do I need an excuse to see my friend?"
He walked beside me. "Yes."
I rolled my eyes. "Fine, if you must know, I'm skipping meditation for this."
"Why?" He sped up to get in front of me and spread his arms out to stop me.
I gave him a look. "You ask that a lot. Besides, why do you care? I'll be living with the consequences." I sidestepped his arm.
He jogged up beside me. "Because, you're my friend and I don't want you throwing your life away. You've got a good one."
I met his gaze. "Believe me, I know. And I'm not throwing it away. Sometimes I just... need a break."
He shrugged. "You're ridiculous."
I smirked and shot him a sidelong glance. We stopped at a pile of crates.
"Of all the things you could help with, why would you pick inventory." He grabbed a holopad from on top of one of the crates.
I nudged him. "Someone's got to do it."
"But... why us?" He scrolled through the list of supplies.
I chuckled. "Oh come on, Kell, you know you have fun."
Kell rolled his eyes. "The least you could do is use the Force."
"That's not the kind of thing it should be used for." I crossed my arms. "Besides, I like doing things with my hands every once and a while."
Kell grumbled something under his breath before walking over to check a label on one of the crate.
He straightened. "This one goes over there." He pointed to a different spot on the floor.
"No problem." I cracked my knuckles and pushed the crate across the floor to the place Kell had indicated.
The process continued for a while, the two of us taking turns moving the crates and reading the list.
I stared at the list then at the remaining boxes. We were almost done.
"Lianna! Get down!" Kell lunged forward and shoved me to the floor, right as an explosion ripped through the hangar.
The shockwave blew me backwards. I slammed into the wall, a shock of pain pulsing violently through my body. I felt the cool hard floor against my cheek as everything went black.
A/N
This was sort of a filler, but still necessary.
Can anyone guess where we're at in series?
Hope you enjoyed.
