Chapter 22: Stangers or friends?

When i see her I can't hold in my tears, in my arms is my closest friend and one of the only people I trusted with the truth. Her soft features brought back memories of the small winter village we grew up in, now scarred with a giant gash vertically all the way from her forhead over her nose and down her cheek.

"Veronica.....I'm-so-sorry." i sob between every word as I hug her closely rocking back and forth.

"Why?!? What happened?! We never fought not like this.... We were supposed to work together."

I take a moment to wipe the wet tear from my face turning the dirt on my face into wet mud. I pick her up gently and carry her out of the burning building. I find a small pond not to far from the base and set her down carefully at the base if a tree

"I'll be back I promise." I pet her soft long hair before I take off down the trail towards the town my arm dangling like dead weight I run until I can hear the sounds of men screaming and fighting from the distance. The feeling of the heat ratiating from the burning village warmed my sweating skin even more. Finally i burst through a big bush and enter the town center, around me fire and marines trying their best to keep the pirates away in the distance i see killer fighting the unit i was with during the day the three men teamwork is the only thing keeping them alive as killer relentless attacks them without stopping. Not too far from him is Kid locked in battle with another masked man, the stranger is equipped with two short swords.

"CAPTIN! KILLER!" I shout as loud and possible and rip off the fabric holding my hair in place. Killer looks over at me as I nod at him in order to let him know i was successful. I was about to make my way to killer to assist him when I feel someone jump onto my back causing me to fall to the ground. All i could see is the ground as i tasted the red dirt in my mouth drying my throat even more then before. Then I feel a burning pain in the my shoulder the same arm that I had injured earlier. A sharp pain encompassed the right side of my body, I scream unable to grab whatever has me held hostage. Eventually the mass moves off me and im able to see who attacked me.

Once again I'm face to face with Veronica but there something extremely different about her. Her jaw is detached and lined with tons of sharp fangs, my blood staining her chin. And multiple tiny eyes lined her cheek bones.

"Fucking Christ Veronica you bite me!?!?" I look at my shoulder and the deep puncture wounds as I sat up. Soon I feel my legs go weak as I kneel down on the ground.

"Wait did... you- poison me...?" I cant move my toes as I lose feeling in my fingers.

"Good job new girl I'll finish this." Behind her was the admiral that had given the speech during the day time, in his hand was a flint lock pistol he made his way towards me and pulls back the cock of the gun. I try to grab the gun from him, but he lifts it from my reach and points it into the back of my head.

"To image id be the one to kill the famous Captin Talon!" I look up at the man and try again to reach him but I've lost any capability in my arms. He smiles at me as he places his finger on the trigger.

Before he can push down all the way a bullet flys through his head blood leaks from the wound as he falls to the ground. I countine to lose feeling as I see the man with the fox mask apporch his body and kick it over.

"You just don't listen do you i told you.... SHE'S MINE." He looks at me and proceeds to approach me, now i was unable to hold myself up so i fall to the ground fighting to keep myself conscious. He rolls me over onto my back and cuts the rope holding the fruit,he holds it up and observes it closely.

"Nice try darling, but I can't let you just take this." He gently rubs my cheek with the back of his hand the touch is familiar to me but i can't place it.

"V! take this and head to the ship ill be right behind you, this island is a lost cause most of the Marines here will be dead by daylight and the people here don't serve an important cause. We'll leave them to the Kid pirates we have a mission to complete."

He stands up and walks towards her, i grab his ankle, its just a feeble attempt on my part as he shakes my hand off of him and coutines on with Veronica I watch as my friend and the masked man disappeared into the dense forest. I try to crawl towards them unable to to get up from the ground. I feel someone put their hands under my arms and lifts me off the dirtyground.

"Look at you girly all beat up again." It was Wire he held me like a rag doll a couple of feet above the ground.

"Me pssst, no im doing great how about you and the rest of the crew?" I give Wire a sarcastic answer as he still holds me in his big hands

"Oh okay in that case you should be able to walk." He removes his hands and lets my body fall to the ground like a bag of flour i curse under my breath at the man as he laughs loudly at my current state.

"You be careful with her you big oaf if you hurt her ill restrict your access to the doctors office. You'll have to find someone else to heal you." Cleaver comes running and smacks wire in the back of the head.

"Thanks doc, I think its just a simple paralysis poision it should wear off in sometime."

"Okay good ill leave you with he Captin and killer i need to check on the more seriously injured crew members."

"What Wire cant carry me around all day his gentle touch really puts me at ease."

"What the hell is going on over here?" Kid followed by killer had joined the conversation.

"Oh nothing Lilth is back and shes alive." Cleaver pointed to me laying on the ground immobile. Kid squats down to get closer to me.

"Did you get everything?" Kid grills me from his position.

"Im doing great Captin im so glad you asked, how about you been eating well?"

Kid yanks me up by my collar and throws me over his shoulder.

"You're still gonna be a smartass even in this condition."

"Oh so you noticed, I thought maybe you just assumed I liked the ground. And what's with people and picking me up like I'm just a doll."

"Its easy when your so small, not to mention defenseless." He snickers at his clever statement, i could tell he was taking me to the beach where there seems to be a campfire with a couple of other crew members.
