I find myself blinded by the white snow on which the sun was shining. I feel the the cold wind blow, almost taking me with it. I take a better look at my surroundings and see that I am on a mountain made of ice. It was beautiful, like nothing I had ever seen. The light reflected in the ice and you could almost see small fairies dancing in the glimmer.
I walked down and saw in the distance some smoke going into the sky. As I walked towards it I began to see rooftops. As I went even closer I could see a small village, with no more than fifteen buildings. I walked closer and noticed that one of them was bigger than the others. I decided to enter it.
Inside was a feasting hall, but not like in Asgard, it was much smaller. How could they ever fit in even fifty people? I then saw a man sweeping the floor. I went over to him.
"Hello".
I recognised his language as I had studied it before and replied.
"Hello. Is this where your ruler lives?".
"Ruler? Ah, yes. He is at the back right now, sleeping. Two days ago the men returned from a raid and they drank till not long ago". The man answered.
"Will I be able to see him?". I ask.
He looked me up and down.
"He has brought many beautiful women from the raids. But none quite like you. I'm sure he would never refuse you".
He went to the end of the hall and went through a small door.
He soon returned and took me with him. We entered and I saw a man sitting in his bed, holding his head with his hand. He had blonde hair that was up in a ponytail and the lower half of his head was shaved. You could see some tattoos that went down his neck and under the fur he was wearing, or better said, thrown on. As his chest was exposed, you could see some scars going down from the shoulder.
He looked up at me and nodded to the other man.
"You're not from around here, are you. I also don't remember bringing you here on one of our raids, as I would have noticed you from the beginning and taken you as mine". He said, looking me up and down.
"No, I am not".
"And what do you seek here?". He asked.
"I am not sure yet".
Then he suddenly got up and walked over.
"That necklace...".
Before I knew it, he was kneeling before me.
"What are you doing?". I ask, flustered by his reaction.
"I apologize for not realizing from the start who you were. I should have known from your beauty that you were a goddess". He said all that while not daring to look up at me again.
"How did this necklace make you think that?".
"A great Völva foretold that you would appear here wearing this necklace".
A witch? Interesting. I'll have to see what this is all about.
"Get up, please. Could you tell me where this Völva is?".
"But of course. I gave her a corner near the hearth. I will take you there".
I follow him.
"If it is alright, could you tell me your name". He asked, almost sheepishly.
"Freya".
I smile as I see his face light up.
"So you are the Allfather's wife?".
