Was he really being blinded by fear?

"Hey, Clark!"
The hawk turned to him with his head raised, waiting.
"Can you take the other two out for a bit. They won't listen to me and I know they don't like it in here" Rayden said, nodding to the other two familiars.
Clark snapped his beak twice as a 'Sure' and flew off from his perch with a cry, alerting the other two. They spoke in their own ways before going off, but, unsurprisingly, Furisha was a little hesitant in her steps as she trotted her way out of the cave.
When they were all out Rayden sighed to himself, getting up. He'd caught a doe earlier on and drained it's blood for both himself and Drita. He had a small wooden cup filled with the substance in his hand as he walked over to the napping Feline. He picked the upper half of her body so he could sit down in a way to have her head on his lap. He tilted her head up a bit before bringing the cup to her mouth and tipping it too. Mid way through her eyes slowly started opening. He quickly put the cup to the side and helped her sit up.
"Easy! Rachel said you still had about 48 hours of sleep to go before you woke up" he said,
Her head snapped to his letting their eyes meet. For the first time, he saw her façade fall. Only for seconds. But he saw it. Pain. Then it flickered light a flame. He waited for her to do something, and was more than shocked when she tackled him to the ground in a surprisingly tight protective hug.
"Are the others ok too?" she asked,
Still a little too surprised to speak he just nodded. She pulled away from him with a relieved sigh.
"Good, then doing that wasn't for nothing" she whispered to herself, thinking she was saying it to herself.
His eyes widened.
"What do you mean?" he asked,
Now it was her turn to have wide eyes.
"What?"
"You said that it wasn't for nothing. What did you risk going through with that?" he asked, serious.
"If I stayed like that for any longer I could've well..."
"What?"
"Died" she whispered to herself,
He shook his head at her. It was like they were back to normal, and he didn't even notice it, but Drita did. She felt to weak to keep up the lie right now, as long as he didn't notice it gone she'd be fine. She could put it back on when she catches Furisha's scent again. Or just go back to sleep. So she curled up with the blanket she had wrapped around her and leaned against the wall beside him. She licked the blood that'd dripped down her chin while he fed her and sighed.
"Thanks for the snack" she said,
He sighed back before nodding.
"No problem.. You should really get some sleep now" he told her, throwing a twig into the blazing flames in front of them.
She nodded, going to close her eyes... before something occurred to her. The next kingdom... Damn. She grumbled under her breath.
"What is it?" Rayden asked,
She sat up once more and glared at the flames before her.
"Out of all of them, this'll be the most difficult kingdom for me.. Beke is going to have it in for me" she sighed to herself.
"Who's Beke?"
Her eyes widened when she realized she said that out loud.. She quickly shook her head. She was slipping, that wasn't a good thing.
