My Knight in Shining Armor || A Suayeon Fanfic

Chapter 1

"Good morning, Your Majesty."

Bora woke up at 8 AM, as usual. She trudged out of her bed and saw her royal assistant, Minji.

"Morning, Minji. And don't call me that! We're friends!"

It was a normal, sunny day. Bora went into her bathroom and took a shower, brushed her teeth, changed out of her nightgown and into her royal dress, complete with a cape and tiara. The young queen was only 25 years old, but was a good ruler. She ruled Insomnia Kingdom very fairly, and cherished her people dearly. When her parents died from assassins after the great war 8 years ago, Bora, their only heir, became queen at the age of 17.

Bora aspired to be queen since she was a small child, so she studied and practiced very hard. She was pretty good at the job. She got rid of all the assassins and spies in the castle, and used her power only for the good of her people. She got rid of all crime in her kingdom and made sure that not one criminal act, not even robbery, was to be tolerated. When her parents were assassinated, she avenged them by destroying the terribly corrupted enemy kingdom who was behind it, Neverland Kingdom. She ruthlessly recruited thousands of knights to fight (who were mostly people that she and her relatives were close to, since they wanted to help her avenge). She then took the land as her own and added it to Insomnia Kingdom. Most Neverland Kingdom citizens didn't complain, since their government was so corrupted that power changed all the time. She made sure not a single enemy leader survived.

Or did she?

Bora worried about this, since she was well aware that she was young and inexperienced. She just woke up from a nightmare about her parents' ghosts telling her that assassins were out to get her. It's all in your head, Bora. Get it together, she thought to herself. Minji walked down alongside her to eat breakfast in the banquet room, where they would also discuss politics with the royal advisors.

A few hours later

Bora had just finished eating lunch and was in her office, writing and signing paperwork. She figured that this was the boring part of being queen, but she didn't complain. She knew life had to be this way. Besides, the clock just struck 2 PM, so she had other things to do.

At this time of day, Bora would sneak out of the castle, disguised as a government official (mostly a judge) at the bottom of the ranks instead of a queen. She used these times to communicate with her people and to know what was going on outside of her castle. No one in her castle, not even Minji, knew about this. Bora switched garments, and went on her daily journey.

Everything was going well. There were no economic problems. The people seemed happy and cheerful as usual. There were no signs of criminals, and Bora was about to go back to the castle when she felt a hand cover her mouth.

Bora panicked. She never saw this coming, and realized that there weren't any kidnapping reports since 6 years ago. Maybe she just didn't do a good job of removing crime from her kingdom, or something new was rising...

She tried to scream, but the hand covering her mouth was too strong. The other hand pulled her golden hair, causing her to bite the man's hand in pain. However, he only dragged her alongside him down an alley.

"Don't make a noise, woman, or I'll stab you with this," the man whispered to Bora, holding a knife placed to her throat. The man didn't recognize her- thank goodness she was in disguise! Was this why she was kept inside her castle by her advisors? If that was the case, why did they never tell her? It probably wasn't, since criminal activity hasn't happened ever since she eliminated every threat.

"Everyone! I found one of those government scum," the man said. Bora realized that he brought her inside a small building. It turned out that her kidnapper had some buddies.

"Really? Lemme see," another man was heard. He stepped out from a door carrying some ropes and stared at Bora.

"It really is a politician. What shall we do with it, Doyoung?" he asked Bora's kidnapper.

"Maybe get some information out of her," Doyoung replied.

Information? What information? Bora wondered. Doyoung suddenly tightened his grip.

"Should we tell her?" he asked his buddies.

"Sure. She's going to die anyways," a woman in the corner replied. Bora squinted her eyes. That woman looked slightly familiar. The room was dark, though, so she couldn't get a good look at her.

"You so sure about that, Miyeon? What if she survives?" the man who was carrying ropes replied.

"She doesn't look really fit. I would honestly let her try to escape. She wouldn't."

Bora wondered when that woman, apparently named Miyeon, appeared in her life. She could've sworn that she'd seen her before. She just didn't know when, or where...

"Alright, lady. We are going to overthrow your pathetic weak queen Bora. The Neverlands shall rise again, just you wait. They will destroy everyone you love and will rule all of this land, do you understand? Insomnia Kingdom is nothing but filth. Neverland Kingdom is superior. Tell me, how do you enter the castle, or I'll kill you on the spot! Cooperate, and maybe we'll let you live!" the man with the ropes told Bora, walking closer to her. The Neverlands?!? I thought I ended them all! Perhaps not... Bora thought. Is this the end? Have I failed mother and father? Is this the day I die? If only I knew martial arts...

"Sir, I-I-" Bora stuttered.

"Hurry up and answer me!"

"I- I don't know how to enter th-the castle either. I am only a, uh, mere village judge," Bora replied. She sighed.

Doyoung snickered.

"Then you are useless to us," he said. "Kill her."
