"You promise me you won't walk out like everyone else?"

Yu-Yu had a manager way before he joined NCT, who acted like a father figure towards him. Yu-Yu trusted this man with his life, ever since he was two. It truly broke him when the manager walked out on him one day.

He's the reason why Yu-Yu has trust issues with people. He was the first person to truly break Yu-Yu on a whole other level. The man was his role model, a person who he looked up to, someone he thought of as a dad.

The day the manager walked out on him was the day where he stopped letting people in. Let's see what happened that day.

Present {2010}

Yu-Yu was going over a choreography in the trainee hall, when he grew a little tired. He decided to take a small break to hydrate. While hydrating his body, his manager stormed into the room with an angry expression.

The curious child asked, "Hyung what's wrong?" The manager shouted at Yu-Yu, "SHUT UP! GO BACK TO PRACTICING." Yu-Yu was about to take a sip of his water, but the manger shouted again nearly scaring the boy.

Yu-Yu went back to practicing, while feeling like he was gonna pass out soon. The manager was beeping furious for no reason. Yu-Yu stumbled a little on one of the eight counts which ticked the manager off.
"COME ON! STOP MESSING UP YOU IDIOT!"

Yu-Yu stared up at his manager with a hurt look. "Hyung why are you being so mean to me? I'm sorry that I keep messing up. I'm tired that's all."

The manager shouted and approached the child. "DON'T TALK BACK TO ME. IF YOU MESS UP ONE MORE TIME... I'LL SLAP THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF YOU. NOW YOU BETTER GET IT CORRECT ON ALL EIGHT COUNTS."

Yu-Yu shivered in fear as he felt his heart hurt at the manager's harsh words. Yu-Yu could barely breathe due to lack of hydration and oxygen. The child didn't want to be slapped, so he pushed through and did the dance one more time.

The dance was almost perfect except for Yu-Yu's landing. Yu-Yu held his chest as he could barely get any oxygen into his system. The child was busy trying to get some air into his lungs, when the manager approached him and slapped him right across his left cheek.

Yu-Yu visibly cringed in pain. The child kept a hand on his chest and one on his face. The manager shouted right before walking out. "STUPID CHILD... ALWAYS HAVING ISSUES. I HOPE YOU DIE FROM AN ASTHMA ATTACK. DON'T EVEN TELL ANYONE ABOUT HOW I SLAPPED YOU,

OR ELSE I'LL STRANGLE YOU BY YOUR POUCH. BYE BYE STUPID IDIOT." Yu-Yu started to cry as he felt the sting on his face, and his lungs trying to contract some air into his system.

The child somehow got a hold of his pouch, and pulled out his inhaler. Yu-Yu nearly passed out before pressing on the bottom of his inhaler. Yu-Yu barely had any strength to hold the inhaler. The younger was about to pass out, when he heard the door opened.

The child could barley keep his eyes open, as he saw a tall figure. The young male approached Yu-Yu with a concerned look. Yu-Yu slowly backed up and flinch as the man try to help him. The man calmly whispered , "I'm not gonna hurt you. I promise. It's okay. I'm here to help you now."

Yu-Yu stared up at the man while tears were streaming down his cheeks. The man gently wiped the child's tears. Yu-Yu started to cry as the man traced the newly bruised left cheek of the child's. The man grew angry on the inside.

The man asked himself, "Who would slap a child?" Yu-Yu started to cry more as he gained his breath back. The man gently placed the child onto his lap. Yu-Yu cried into the man's shoulder. "It's okay. I promise to protect you from now on. I won't let anyone hurt you, kiddo."

Yu-Yu looked up at the man with a heartbroken look, "You promise me you won't walk out like everyone else?" The man's heart broke at hearing the child's question. "I promise." Yu-Yu smiled sadly at the man.

The man chuckled, "I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Min and I'll be your new manager and protector. I promise to protect you for however long you want me to."

Yu-Yu showed his dimple smile to the man, "Annyeonghaseyo, I'm Lai Yu-Han but I prefer
Yu-Yu. Thank you for being my savior. I promise to try my best to always behave and do well.
Pinky promise?"
