Patton was visiting Virgil and Loki in the hospital, choosing to keep his friend company since he worked close by. That day he was taking an extra bit off work, Janus only needing to go to his office for an hour or two to fill out some paperwork and file a few things, so he would be by soon. Logan and Nico were to arrive later since Logan got called to work for a few hours. Roman was busy in the office and that day was Remus' Dissociation Day and nobody interrupted him on those days (Janus still has flashbacks).
Virgil had recently gotten back from a walk around the hallway, the doctors wanting him on his feet and walking as much as possible during his stay to aid in the recovery. Patton was chatting with Virgil while Loki was sleeping by his dad's side since Virgil had threatened that he would pull out all of his IVs if he wasn't allowed to have Loki during his stay. Needless to say the doctors obliged.
"It's a bummer you have to stay here longer than you would normally. I know you don't really like hospitals since that time," said Patton.
"We all have to make sacrifices for things we love. I'm fine as long as I have Loki," replied Virgil, delicately rubbing his finger underneath the baby's chin.
"Do you think he'll act more like you or more like Logan when he gets older?" asked Patton.
"I'm not sure. To be fair, I wouldn't know how I acted as a child beyond the age of three," Virgil said.
"Oh yeah, we'll maybe you can learn. I'm just happy he's a healthy little baby. You gave us all quite the scare after giving birth to him. Especially Logan," mumbled Patton, running a hand through his curls.
"Well it's not like I planned on having postpartum hemorrhage. It's not really something you can control," huffed Virgil with a playful roll of his eyes.
"Well wouldn't that be nifty? If you could just choose not to have an illness or condition. Like, someone has cancer then they're like, 'I don't want cancer' and their body's like 'oh, okay' and boom, no cancer," giggled Patton, Virgil chuckling too.
"If only life were that easy," sighed Virgil. "So who did you say would be coming today?"
"Janus should be here at anytime and Logan said him and Nico would get here between 1 and 2," said Patton, looking over at the digital alarm clock on the bedside table, the glowing red numbers saying 1:36 p.m.
"Alright. Anything interesting happen while I've been in here?" Virgil questioned.
"Not that I can recall. Uhm, Nico and Logan are doing fine, Nico really really misses you. So does Everglade. The twins are fine, Roman found a whole bunch of weed on this one guy who wasn't wearing his own pants, apparently, and wasn't driving his own car, for some reason. Janus doesn't have any court cases that I know of, and no children have bit me as of this week," recalled Patton, tapping a finger on his chin.
"It's only Tuesday, give the children time. I'm sure you'll have a missing finger by the end of this week," smiled Virgil, shifting so Loki was he was laying on Virgil's chest, his cheeks squished in cutest way possible and his head resting just below Virgil's chin.
Patton giggled then heard something from the door. He looked over to see Janus standing there, an urgent expression on his face. His husband beaconed Patton over, the pediatrician tanning up from his chair.
"I'll be right back Virgil. Janus needs something," Patton said, gesturing towards the door. Virgil nodded in understanding, Patton hurrying out of the room to his husband.
"What do you need Jan- oh we're moving!" Patton squeaked when Janus grabbed him by the wrist and started pulling him down the hallway. Janus dragged Patton down the hall, turned left, walked some more, made a right, and by then Patton had lost track of where they were. He was grateful for when they finally stopped outside a door that looked like it lead to the nursery, or a nursery.
"Patton, honey, dearest, do you remember that young lady a while back we talked to who didn't want to keep the baby she had because she was too young, but her family wouldn't allow her to abort?" Janus asked, holding Patton's shoulders.
"I thinks so. She was the one I gave brownies and cookies to because she started crying, right?" Patton recalled.
"Yes! Her! Well she had the baby, just yesterday, and she told the doctors she wanted us to adopt them!" Janus announced, Patton gasping as tears pooled in not only his eyes, but also Janus'.
"She signed the papers, I signed them too and now we have a baby Patton!" cried Janus, tears of joy rolling down his cheeks as Patton hugged his husband.
"I want to meet them! What do they look like? What gender are they? Are we allowed to named them or did she name them?" Patton blathered question after question as he shook his hands and bounced in place in happy stimming, his glasses fogging up because of the tears and his vision becoming blurrier.
A nurse came over, probably hearing the crying, and Janus asked for the -their!- baby. The nurse nodded, leaving into the room then returning after a minute or two with a beautiful baby wrapped up in a soft pink blanket. They handed the baby to Patton who looked down at them, fresh tears falling as he gazed at his new child.
They were a little girl, with coco colored skin, dark black hair and hazel eyes trimmed in dark brown. She was the most precious thing to Patton and Janus.
"Hello. Hello there kiddo. We're your dads," Patton cooed, the baby giggling, her voice like soft bells to the new fathers.
"A-are w-we a-al-allow-w t-t-to n-n-name h-h-he-her?" Patton asked between sobs.
"Yes. The young lady said we could name her. She was so happy we were able to take her baby," said Janus, him sobbing just as much, if not more than Patton (if that was even possible).
"D-d-do y-y-you re-remember th-the names we chooooose?" Patton choked out, hugging the baby closer too him.
"Yes, yes. We said Roosi for a girl, Ethan for a boy," sniffed Janus, hugging Patton and looking down at his daughter with such love in his two colored eyes it was unbelievable.
"Welcome to our family, Roosi Leefield," said Patton, Roosi giggling again.
Bet y'all didn't see that coming. And now Loki and Nico have a (basically) cousin.
(That little scene Patton mentioned with Roman and the weed was 100% based on Live PD and Roman 100% is an officer who is on Live PD. I know cops and police are a touchy subject for some, because of the shit going around, so we're just going to pretend in this timeline cops and police are chill and actually do their jobs (not racist or prejudice against other people). Just to clear that up. I don't want a bunch of angry people in the comments, so if we could kindly avoid roasting cops or screeching about them I'd greatly appreciate it)
