Nausea Sucks

Virgil was woken up that morning the same way he had been for the past six weeks; the revolting feeling of needing to throw up. Only this time Virgil wasn't alone in his suffering. While in the bathroom regretting all his life decisions that lead up to him having a second child Virgil felt a hand on his back, gently rubbing circles across his spine. He looked over, very confused, to see Logan staring back at him with a mix of sympathy and concern in his eyes.

"Lo? What're you doin' here?" Virgil mumbled pitifully as he leaned against the toilet, head resting on his arms.

"Today is my day off from work. How often is this happening and for how long?" Logan answered.

"Six weeks. Happens every morning and almost every time I try to eat anything. I can barely keep a damn granola bar down," said Virgil.

"Oh honey. I promise to help you out today, you just rest. I'll try to help you find something that'll stay down," Logan pressed a kiss to Virgil's temple, Virgil mumbling a thank you before throwing up once again.

Virgil felt Logan pick him up, carrying him bridal style out of their bedroom into the living room where Logan left Virgil on the couch. He then left to retrieve Nico, leaving Virgil on the couch with Everglade as she had gotten up upon seeing them enter.

"Hey girl," Virgil cooed softly as he scratched behind her ear, Everglade tilting her head into the scratches and wagging her tail, it making thump, thump, thump noises on the carpet. Logan returned, not only with Nico, but with a small, black, plastic trash can you'd put in bathrooms and bedrooms.

Logan gave Virgil the trash can, Nico coming to sit next to Virgil while Logan said he was going to make breakfast, at least for him and Nico. As stated before Virgil could barely keep anything down, so eating meals was pretty much out of the question, much it his absolute delight.

Nico turned on the TV while they waited, the child picking out 'Martha Speaks' to watch as they waited. While they waited Virgil was doing fine by his exceedingly low standards. He wasn't throwing up at the moment and the worst thing he had going on was a minor headache (though he didn't doubt it'll get worst as the day progresses, they always do).

Logan then came in with the breakfast, poor Virgil throwing up at the sight.

"I swear, this child just doesn't want to eat," grumbled Virgil as Logan gave him yet another sympathetic look.

"Are you able to get fluids down?" Logan asked as Nico began to happily eat his waffle, even happier that he got to eat in the living room.

"Yup. This one loves their drinks, but despises food. Lucky me," Virgil said, resting his head against the back of the couch.

"Then I think I might have an idea. I'll be back in a few minutes," said Logan, leaving to the kitchen.

Virgil barely noticed, the constant knotting and clenching in his stomach then the headache definitely getting worst was thoroughly distracting him. He heard what sounded like a blender, but he was just trying to block out any noise, it was all getting to be too much; the noises, the light, the smells. There was a pressure growing in his head, it felt like someone was chiseling at his temple with an ice pick.

"Try this, love," Virgil blinked his eyes open and looked up, Logan standing in front of him with a cup held out. Virgil took the cup and just started drinking. He couldn't care less about what it was, he just needed something in his stomach. Once the flavors hit his tongue he immediately recognized it as a strawberry kiwi smoothie.

"Thank you, Lo," said Virgil with a weak smile.

"Of course, Virgil. Now what do you need to do today?" Logan asked.

"Today is Tuesday, so I usually do the laundry. I'll also take Nico and Everglade for a walk to make sure they're staying active, sometimes stop by the park if they want to," said Virgil.

"Alright. You stay here and rest. I'll take care of the laundry. If you get hungry for actual food I left some saltine crackers behind you on the side table to see if those stay down. I'll get you a blanket as well so you can simply rest. I know this pregnancy is far more difficult than the previous one, so you should get plenty of rest when the opportunity is presented," Logan explained, Virgil nodding along.

"Thank you again Lo. Love you," said Virgil, leaning back on a pillow propped up against the couch's arm as Logan draped a thin blanket over him.

"Anything for you love. I'll check up on you ever hour," Logan gave Virgil a kiss on the forehead and Nico one on top of his head, the two-and-a-half year old smiling at his dad.

Within three episodes of "Martha Speaks" Virgil had fallen back asleep, Nico curled up in his lap and Everglade sprawled out at his feet.
