The first thing Virgil saw when he managed to blink open his eyes was a grayish darkness. It wasn't complete, inky black darkness he'd seen for years when he was younger, it was more like having the lights turned off, but having the curtains drawn back, or having your door closed with hall lights on, or even glow-in-the-dark stickers on, to bring light into a dark place.

Second thing he noticed were the many tubes stuck in his arms, in his nose, and other places. Virgil groggily sat up a bit, careful not to pull at any of the tubes then pushed the button next to him. He recognized it as the nurse paging button, not from his most recent stay three years ago, but when he was only seven years old and brought to the hospital along with all the other children who were rescued from that terrible place.

In only a few minutes a door off to his right opened, allowing a little bit more light into the room.

"Hello Mr. Sanders. How're you feeling?" a voice asked then the room brightened a little. Not so much that it would hurt his eyes, but enough that he could clearly see he was in a hospital room.

"Uh, fine. I guess. A bit lightheaded though. What happened?" he asked, rubbing his eyes with the hand that didn't have IVs inserted in it.

"You had to be taken into surgery due to postpartum hemorrhage. Everything went smoothly, and in case you were wondering the baby is perfectly fine. It was a healthy -and loud- baby who's in the nursery right now," informed the nurse.

"Oh. That's good. What about Logan and Nico?" he asked.

"I believe they went home somewhere around 8:50 p.m. They were informed that we'd called them once you woke up," answered the nurse.

"Ight. What time is it?" Virgil yawned, still feeling tired despite just coming out of anesthesia.

"It's around 4:36 a.m." answered the nurse. "I suppose you may want to return to sleep. We'll call your husband once visiting hours open up so they can come visit you, and the baby."

"That'd be nice. Thank you," Virgil said, his eyelids already starting to droop back down. He wasn't lying when he said he was lightheaded, the world was already started to spin a bit so he reasoned that rest would be the best thing for him.

This chapter is shorter than me (and that's an accomplishment) but y'all wanted closure, so here's your closure.
Virgil is all good and maybe next chapter you'll learn the new baby's name
