Percy led me to the Hades cabin, where he said he hoped Nico would be. He wasn't there.
"Leo, go get Piper. I'll find Nico." Percy told me. "We have a quest. Meet me in the Big House." he jogged off without explanation. I ran in the other direction. They were always telling me to do things like that: Do this, I'll explain later. I ran to the Aphrodite cabin and banged on the door. One of Piper's siblings opened the door.
"Can I help you?" she asked. "I'm in the middle of color-coding my clothes."
"I just need Piper. Do you know where she is?" I questioned.
"She said something about going to the canoe lake. Bye!" The Aphrodite girl slammed the door in my face.
I walked through camp toward the lake, taking my time. I was enjoying the sun and the lack of evil earth goddesses or giants or Titans. Or war. The breeze strengthened until the wind was blowing so hard I was barely moving forward. Then it intensified so much I was blown backward into the woods. I groaned; I had smacked my head on a tree. The forest darkened around me and a swirling figure appeared in front of me.
"Dirt Face." I growled. Then I saw that the figure was glowing with a soft light. It radiated power, so I figured it was a god, but it looked more like a Titan.
"I am not Gaea." The figure boomed. "I am much more powerful than that d-list goddess. I am not your Greek Olympian god. I am your future. Your past. Your savior."
"What?" This guy made no sense. Wind swirled around his glowing body, obscuring his features.
"I can bring your mother back. I can make your life better. Perfect. I know you feel left out. Your friends don't tell you anything. They use you, then throw you away."
"No, they don't. Friends don't do that." But my voice trembled. This guy was beginning to remind me of Nemesis. She'd said something similar. You'll always be the seventh wheel. Her words echoed in my mind.
"You're right. Friends don't do that. They are not your friends. Join me, and I will give you your mother. You can have your revenge. Once I destroy the camps and the Lost Cities, I will remake the world. You will have a special place in my new world." I had no idea what the lost cities were, but he was beginning to make sense. If he could give me my mom back...
"Okay," I whispered. "What do I do?"
